Is it autistic to use \LaTeX (the latex logo command) in your CV?
>>54688517
I make my CVs in microsoft word, but paste in the latex logo to look more hipster.
>>54688517
the logo? Yes, it's autistic
the formatting language? No, and they'll probably want to hire you more for putting in more effort and showing you're into varied tech
how would they know what you used to produce the pdf?
>>54688526
Do you even need a CV to apply to macdonalds?
I'm a hiring manager and I don't hire anyone that uses LaTex. Real Unix Men Use Troff.

> varied tech
typing your shit in latex is a red flag that you've been a NEET for a while
>>54688517
Yes, it is. And I use LaTeX for anything I have to write.
>>54688550
m8...

You're on a thinkpad paid for by NEETbux aren't you?
>>54688550
because it doesnt looks like shit and is prober aligned.
>>54688611
What, you send your .doc file?
>>54688611
what do you expect, if you dont send in pdf, they will just ignore it.
>>54688653
Yeah I got a programming job with one
I thought .pdf was a meme, at least so I was told
>>54688611
pdf is the _only_ acceptable file format for a resume, period
>inb4 personal website, LinkedIn etc
You should have a separate document as well, employers like having that kind of thing on file.

>>54688517
Latex isn't a skill worth putting on your resume (unless you're a teenager or you really can't find anything to fill up the space)
>>54688567
Wow you sure showed those applicants!
>>54688636
Dude just print it out, take a picture, and send them a jpg
>>54688735
>send a jpg
Worse than faxing it
>>54688746
i think that's the joke..
>>54688735
are you applying for a department for special forces?
>>54688573
Or, you know, actually written a thesis in it.
>>54688691
In the last 10 years, I've never sent my résumé in any other format than PDF. In fact, most of these web application stuff will ONLY accept PDF uploads.
>>54688735
I don't think about those applicants. I only care about our turnover rates, which HR is happy with.
Taking the time to hire the right people is important to me.
>>54688802
>claims to only hire the right people
>chooses to focus on what format they submit their CV in
>>54688840
Not him, but the little things matter, like if they turn up without a tie. Basic decency makes a good impression
>>54688517
Yeh just wrote my thesis with it. Got an A :^)
>>54688746
I recently had to help my sister send a tiff to her uni because they only accepted that, so it could happen

No I don't.
I've been applying to jobs with my resume written in LaTeX but I rarely get interviews and still an unemployed NEET. It seems most companies just parse the pdf to take the text out, so all this nice formatting is useless. Should I just write my resume in Libre Office?
