Do you guys think its pretty much pointless and degenerate to learn second or third language seeing how the technology will break the language barrier soon?
>>
lol what are you talking about?
>>
>>54681787
But anon, how do you read your Mongolian fingerpaintings if you don't speak Cantonese?

Technology breaking the language barrier? I guess you've never heard of Amharic before.

Your technology is inferior to our language whitey.

What about more common language such as Spanish or Mandarin? I heard scientists already able to make glasses that can translate language real time
>>
>>54681787
I speak English, Chinese, French, Catalan, Spanish and Mandarin, my native languages being Catalan and Spanish.

I'm sure you'll soon be able to communicate somewhat seamlessly at a rudimentary level, but while I'll be regarded as a competent, engaged person to have business with, you will be regarded as a lazy fat americunt who can't even bother to learn the basics of his client's native language.

Enjoy your mediocre existence.

Did you mean PROGRAMMING language maybe? Assembly existed for years already. Web Development in Assembly is also not a meme anymore: https://blog.mozilla.org/luke/2015/06/17/webassembly/

Uh... No. My first language is Danish, and it is basically useless. Hence, I have had to learn English and German as well. My opportunities would be severely limited if I did not speak any other languages.

Also, there is nothing degenerate about learning other languages.
>>
>>54681787

English is the only language you need to know.

The only people that feel the need to learn a 2nd language are non-English speakers.
>>
>>54681987
>claims to know all these languages

Confirmed for not smart enough to secure a good career
>>

If you actually want to get employed, no.
People love that shit, it shows dedication.
>>
>>54681787
I dunno but the more i learn spanish the less i like english, Spanish is such a clean and efficient languague.

English is full of horrible redundancies you don't notice until your start learning spanish.

There are words is spanish that can replace entire sentences in english.

That's not what i meant. It is because less than 6 million people speak my native language.

Is this what common core teaches you?

learning a language makes you smarter and more openminded so no.

Did you read my comment? I said ANGLO-American for a reason. The British empire spread the English language far and wide. And today, America dominates the English language media.
>>
>>54681787
Learning multiple languages gives you a better understanding of language in itself, and thus indirectly makes you better at your native language as well.
>>
>>54683655
I know right. English is an extremely contrived language full of stupid exceptions to the rules and you never know how to pronounce something just by reading it.
Then again, Dutch (my native language) isn't all that much better in that regard (not surprising as they're closely related).
I really like other languages that are just simpler and more efficient.
>>
>>54683858

are there really though? i think you can observe these things in most languages
>>
>>54683858
Its a shame we arent computers then we could simply index the redundancies.

char yor[] = {"your","you're"};
char there[] = {"their","there","they're"};
>>
>>54684023

>their and there having the same pronunciation

jsut no
>>
>>54684066
they do
>>
You've already made this thread on >>>/pol/, fuck off
>>
>>54684083

isn't their kinda like inbetween they and there?
>>
>>54684109
no
but really it just depends on your dialect, no point arguing about it
>>
>>54684125

true.
>>
>>54683573
You're right. I've been a pretty intelligent kid all my life, but I'm too scared of life to make something out of it.

Still, I do enough to live a comfy life. And I've got money.

This word does not mean what you think it means.

Good natural language treatment isn't coming anytime soon anon, especially not for translation.

No their would be:
there[0];

And there would be:
there[1];

It won't be long. AI is about to wipe out every job that exists. Give it 10 years max.

And people still won't support wealth redistribution when it happens
>>
>>54684659
The rich didn't support it back in France either but it still happened anyway.

When the wealth gap becomes too visible it's difficult to maintain the illusion of a fair system.
>>
>>54681787
thats why im learning the meme emoji programing language.
>>
>soon
If you knew any other language than your own and ever tried a fucking automatic translator to translate fucking anything, you'd reconsider that "soon".
>>
Define soon.
