I did the same last July on all my family computers and it works.
To save time you clean install 7 and daz load it offine, just connect to let the auth work and avoid updating it at all and use the genuineticket.xml method to just clean install 10 straight away and copy the auth ticket to it, which will auto activate as an upgrade. That's what I did on the ones not running Windows at the time.

Another option is to use a college. At my school, hidden in the back pages of the library website and student tools, they had a list of free software that the school gets from some deal with people.
When I had to fix my laptop, I go the ISO from there. It still works.

Install windows 7, activate it with daz loader, perform upgrade to windows 10 and create a microsoft account.
Now you have an activated version of windows 10.
At this point you can even perform a clean installation of windows 10 on the same PC, enter the microsoft account you used before, and get the freshly installed windows 10 activated.
