I want to prank a relative that got me good last month. He left a Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom that recorded me singing in the shower and having a fat ogre shit in the toilet, then sent it to my coworkers & friends.
I want to get him back by making a retractable clown that explodes foward when he opens the bathroom door scaring him, but that's not it. It will also have a taser attached(on low) that will also shock him for double shock value(or pepper spray, still debatin). It will all be on video as well.
Just want to get him back without being weird.
Thoughts?

My brother was complaining about his computer running like shit sometimes. I saw that he had an old hard drive he didn't really use and whenever I tried to open it or format it explorer would lockup and freeze and shit.
It refused to display the hard drives in device manager as well so I just popped open the computer and removed it as his boot drive is a large SSD anyways so he doesn't really need it. But whenever I remove the hard drive the computer refuses to boot into windows from the SSD. It will boot into windows from the SSD when the broken HD is plugged in fine. The SSD is displayed in the bios boot options and everything. I have no idea why it won't boot up what so ever. No error messages, nothing at all. It goes directly to the bios menu every single time without fail until I plug in the other HD again.
He does have an old install of windows on the broken drive but I'm certain that when he boots up it's running windows off of the SSD.
Anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm not even sure if I'll be able to do a fresh install of Windows onto the SSD if I have to since it refuses to boot into it.
So I'm using MULTILING on a LG L20 because my other phone is momentarily unusable (battery).

I just don't like the looks of it, primarily for the sake of my own experience. I don't like logos, symbols, slogans, brand names, any of it on anything, whether clothing, a laptop, or a fucking blender. A vague secondary is relative to my perception of other people's perception. It's mostly about me, and often times aesthetics influence design decisions which influence functional characteristics. For better and worse.
I just want a solid laptop. Decent keyboard, number pad, large screen, durable. Ideally lightweight, but only within reason. Weight can be readily sacrificed if it translates. Weight also tends to relate with thermals.
Looking around it's not so easy to find.

Relative to what you're planning to buy, very likely.
Two outcomes:
-Zen turns out well enough. You choose that.
-Zen is a complete failure. You buy a high mid-range Intel, and unfortunately still end up paying more than you should. Because Intel artificially inflates their everything.
Either way, all the FX8xxx tend to have heat problems if you're cooling with air anyway (mine just died from a combination of problems after years of sudden shutdowns under any kind of load / a faulty temperature sensor). Zen is on a node that uses far less energy, and is apt to lose less as heat. ie, it's cooler.

I got some nasty malware which at one point caused my desktop to be completely black and only thing working was task manager. I managed to remove most of it with Malwarebytes and Windows auto-repair. The only thing remaining was FF shortcut edited to launch "navigation dot iwatchavi com/". I thought it was over but now every once in a while, firefox closes, there's a message pop-up from mozilla crash reporter "The application didn't leave an application data file." and it turns out whole FF was just reinstalled, all addons, profiles etc wiped. After each time Malwarebytes finds 4-6 potentially dangerous registry keys and deletes them, but that doesn't help much. Because of the thermals involved with the gpu heating up and cooling and the fact that we stopped using lead-based "solder" around 2005, you can generally expect failure in 5-6 years of the gpu, IF you're routinely playing games or otherwise taxing the gpu.
Otherwise most other components will last longer
>>54683828
I don't think I'd say that, but I haven't looked at tablets much. If I had to buy a tablet today with no additional research, I'd get a Samsung. Some of Lenovo's laptops are pretty good.
>>54683978
Is it the EU's fault we're using bad solder now?

You should find a service manual before trying to open a laptop. In order to fit everything, they're often put together counter-intuitively.

I really want to just know if the problem is the Hard Drive or the Cable connecting Hard Drive to Motherboard or or the Motherboard being fucked

i came to that conclusion too, it's probably some older chip with the firmware of a newer card... fucking chinks

How do I make variable targets in Makefile, so I don't need to add a new entry every new file added?clean:
rm -f ./*.aux ./*.toc ./*.dvi ./*.pdf ./*.log
[any other target here]: $([target]).tex
make clean
latex $([target]).tex
latex $([target]).tex
dvipdfmx $([target]).dvi
So when I add another file.tex I can run make file.tex and it werks without changing the makefile

But I don't think the calendar app is syncing with my phone properly (PRIV)
It's not showing any future events, I normally did this by going on hotmail.com and through there it would sync
The sync settings I have on my calendar are "as items come"
Any suggestions?
Anyone know what the fuck happened to filediva, filetram and all those other incredibly useful file hoster search engines? Did they all get busted within the last couple months after having been fine for all these years? What the fuck really
Distro hoppers: how do you deal with bootable USB sticks? Specifically, wiping them. Typically they're made up of one little partition.
Windows seems like it just refuses to format it, so that's out.
In Linux, I typically use GParted to delete the partition(s), then I wipe the partition table. Then if I want to write a new ISO, I just use the dd command.
Is there a simpler way to do this?
Are HDD coolers useless?
I do not understand programming and phones and what not but can someone tell me why it isn't possible to make a bash/command line based front end for a phone app like snapchat? doesn't it basically make requests to certain locations and give you the response?
Like to post on 4chan you can see you need to send data to sys.4chan.org and the google captcha urls so you could make a command line 4chan poster, couldn't the same be done for snapchat?
>>54684887
For windows you have to use diskpart and manually delete the partitions
>>54684894

>>54684974

It just hooks on to the snapchat app,not using any part of its code..Where are casper is a third party app using parts of the snapchat code to process it(thus why all derivitives of snapsave get banned quickly)

The thing is, all of these were here before (even if I forgot about them, like battleye) and they didn't cause any problems. There aren't any suspicious new programs installed and tasks as far as I can tell. Only thing detected by scan are those registry keys, and they keep reappearing after deleting

Do I need a static WAN IP address to port forward? My carrier is blocking ports and they say I need a static IP to open them, for an additional fee. I find it pretty hard to believe.
>>54685110
No.
>>54685110
depends.
if you're behind a NAT then yes, you need an actual public ip address.
for example if your ISP uses dual stack lite to route your ipv4 traffic to you then you're behind a NAT.
>>54685138
The support guy did mumble something about NAT. So I guess he wasn't lying. Thanks!
Gtx 960 or AMD 380? Or best sub 200 dollar card?
>>54685175
check your WAN ip, if it's a local range then you can't port forward.
well you can, but you'd need to port forward another device after it, which your ISP probably wouldn't let you do.
A friend of mine is thinking about upgrading his CPU. He has an ancient i5 760. He does a lot of gaming so do you think he should upgrade his card first? He has a 650
>>54685196
380
Or wait a couple months for a 1060/cheap second hand cards

One of those entries must be the one creating it.
All it takes is a background update for those forgotten programs and bam, you got this shit.

>check your WAN ip, if it's a local range then you can't port forward.
wtf, how can it be local range at all?
Let's say I install Windows 7 and keep using it on the trial version since I don't have an activation key. If I upgrade it to Windows 10 with the free promotion, and then downgrade it, would it keep the validated Windows license key from Windows 10 on Windows 7?
>>54685268you <---> your router/modem <---> your ISPs router <---> internet
>>54685238
Thanks but can't wait more than than first week of June. It's not for me and the 1060 is no where in sight.
>>54685281
but your ISP will always assign you one public IP address, what the fuck are you talknig about?
Your router at home will translate that WAN address for your home, local network
>>54685285
then get a 380
AMD drivers aside, it's a better card.
>>54685299
no it won't.
some ISPs put a group of customers behind another router so they can save on ipv4 addresses.
>>54685321
so it's your local network in 1 subnet aka 192.168.2.0/24 going to your router which STILL has local wan address but in different subnet aka 192.168.1.0/2, which goes to your ISP which only then translates that local ddress into wan?
I find that hard to believe, first time i hear about this...
Not /g/ so forgive me if I get any terminology wrong.
Are there any programs available that allow me to put some kind of a volume slider (preferably minimalist) on my task bar (win7)? Starting to use websites like Bandcamp and similar where there's no obvious volume slider, and rather than downloading plugins for the browser that add it, I'm wondering if there's an easier way to add a volume slider to my taskbar so I don't need to do the extra clicks to open the volume control panel.
Alternatively, is there a way to make the volume mixer permanently 'wider'? At the moment is just shows the first 3 programs, and I need to slide along to see any others. I can manually increase the size but as soon as I close it and reopen I need to do the same again. Kind of annoying in the above scenario when some deafeningly loud noise starts to play and you need to do a dozen clicks and find the program, etc., to reduce it.
>>54685364
it's a common practice when migrating to ipv6.
ipv4 traffic goes through a second network from your ISP.
>>54675730
I got a Yamaha HS8.
How badly did i fuck up?
>>54685214

yes

what is your wan address?
>>54685423

>>54685110
Dont listen to any of these other fucks, they dont know what the fuck they are talking about.
Your isp gives you an ip,either static or dynamic.
This ip is what all your computers behind your router/modem will use.Within your local network you have your own network, which is controlled by your router. These can be changed at will via your router. You just need to open ports on your router to certain ips you need to that compute in your network.
If they are filtering common ports, use non standard ports when you're forewarding
I'm going to college next year for comp sci/engineering and I want a portable laptop. would I be fucked to get a Chromebook? Just concerned about the limitations of ChromeOS if I needed to program something.
>>54685562
but the IP you get from the ISP can be behind another NAT.
so if you port forward it, incoming connections still won't get past the second router.

Upgrading to Windows 10 won't alter your Windows 7 or 8.1 key in any way. 10 has its own key and activation independent of the system you upgraded from.

Not that guy but I've heard that it's safe to immerse them as long as you make damn sure it dries fully before plugging it in again. I've even heard of people running them through the dishwasher before.
Though this might also depend on the technology used, for example what is okay for a rubber dome might not be okay for mechanical switches or vice versa.
