I'm buying one after I get paid
It seems like this is mostly an aesthetic watch, the module has a shitty timer and is relatively unintuitive.
You can't have the hourly chime without the button beep for example

What do you guys think of large digital display like this, especially when they're a dot matrix?
I've only owned digitals with more traditional small lcd screens so I really have no idea how I feel about these

Because resin > metal in actual use. Also it's how they make a 10$ as good as it is.
Pulsar and Timex make metal cases though if thats what you want.

>>54673186
Which is exactly why the casebacks are stamped sheets of stainless steel. Much cheaper than making a full case of steel, but still having a proper corrosion resistant caseback.

Just out of curiousity, how much do prices increase with micro brand watches such as Maison Celadon? I mean of course we're supposed to purchase pieces that we like instead of seeing them as investments, but do micro brands increase in price such as Rolexes and Omegas? Or do they remain/drop in value as they age? I imagine it be hard to say since if the brand dies their won't be many experts to assess the price and will judge it just by the watches value in general, right?

That's not that high of a percentage compared to other items, it's actually very normal. Clothes are about that percentage, you have to pay for all the marketing, sponsorship and what not. At the end of the day it the premise of luxury, you see it in fashion all the time, you pay for the design and concept not the material cost. If it was a more obtainable price for the average person they wouldn't be lusted after so much

You think jewellers can match Amazon prices and still make a profit margin?

I want to get the tissot visodat, which goes for about 400$ on amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Tissot-TIST0194301603101-Heritage-Stainless-Automatic/dp/B0041Q44T2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463917155&sr=8-1&keywords=tissot+visodate

Sturdy, reliable and surprisingly accurate. Mine does a constant -6 secs per day when worn, and fully wound up power reserve is in the 48hour range.

I have a Bulova wall clock from the 1970s, inherited from my grandmother. Itkeeps absolutely dreadful time, and for a long time I thought it was because it needed a new battery, until I figured out that the clock is mechanical and the battery only powers the chime.

Most people in my office only have a vague inkling of my interest in watches. I get them posted to me, but nobody really cares too much, nor do they try to talk to me about it. The few who do tend to have dogshit; a bunch of coworkers have Apple watches and are constantly trying to convince me it's better because "you can change the face". The idea of a watch being powered by anything other than a battery is totally foreign to them. My boss has a TAG Heuer and tried bragging about it, it took every ounce of effort for me not to say "you paid $3,000 for an ETA 2824, you idiot".

Honestly, I liked life a lot better back when I did manual labour out-of-doors. I was in much better shape, I genuinely liked my boss and coworkers, and the idea that work took absolute precedence over your personal life was nonexistent. In the end, I get paid more now, will probably be able to have a more comfortable retirement, and I can wear my watches to work without fear of having them break. But the flip side of that is I work with drab, boring, passive-aggressive and overall bloody awful people who are all in a contest to see who can put in the most overtime rather than who is most productive. Almost makes me want to go back into contracting.

>>54686177
