How is your machine learning knowledge? Have you tried to develop a fault tolerant distributed system? Messed around in computer vision, maybe something like feature detection / object recognition? Have you done low level programming like writing a x86 emulator, C compiler, or virtual file system?
I will agree with you that if have programming knowledge, your first 2 / 3 CS classes are pointless. Skip them. Double major in CS and Math and specialize in Machine Learning / Computer Vision.
