So I'm looking into getting a dac for my PC. Is the modi 2 a good choice or are there better options available around the same price? Also is there anything I should know before buying one?

If you have good MB, integrated realtek will sound same as any other dac with up to 300omh (unless it is very inefficient headphones)

Welcome to the rabbit hole, RIP your wallet. Just remember that more expensive isn't always better when it comes to DACs. The Modi 2 is very good. I have that DAC, a DAC based on a Wolfson WM8740 chip and another one based on an ES9023. The ES9023 DAC is my favorite of the bunch and it ran me $70.
