Ramp up towards 4.2GHz at stock voltage, and test for stability with Prime95. Increase the voltage when you experience instability or errors in P95. Of course, I've heard Prime95 isn't THE best stability testing tool nowadays, but it's what I used to use when I OC'd my Core 2 rig alongside Memtest 86+.
