For the manufacturing costs, as I said, I doubt they'd account for more than 500. It's a dispenser. It's a soda machine without the cooling circuits. It's a coffee machine without the brewing and boiling parts.

This kid is fucked. It was probably Johnson & Johnson or someone like that. Now they are going to flood his ass.

So he signs a deal with Six Flags, let's say. How the fuck is he going to keep all of the kiosks stocked? How is he monitoring inventory? Where is he keeping the product? Who is servicing the machines? Also, where is he getting the product? It's clear that when he was the cute lil' entrepreneur at the baseball game, he was buying name-brand shit in bulk at Sam's Club and marking it up. Is that how he's going to service the machines for a major chain? Retail prices? Breaking down boxes of bandages and putting them into individual packages? J&J aren't going to work with him. He'll have to source some cheap ass stuff from China, which is NOT what people want when it comes to medical supplies.

Here's what's going to happen: J&J are going to make these kiosks. They are going to service them with their huge distribution network. They are going to make the individual packaging at one of their giant factories, straight on the line. They are going to have the name and the clout to put one of these machines ANYWHERE there is the slightest hint of demand. I mean, who is Disney and the local Little League committee and the city government going to trust, Johnson & Johnson or Billy Bob the Teen Wonder and his Chinese bandages?

He should have just taken the money and invested it later on a different project. His current idea seems alright but I don't think the demand is simply there.

So what if Six Flags ordered a bunch of his machines. If a parent has their kid suffer an accident that requires a first aid kit, they're just gonna sue Six Flags.

People are cheap now a days anyway. I doubt he'll be able to make a profit in the end and will have to discontinue the project all together.

The kid has a design patent. Meaning, you can't make an ugly metal box with an iPad on it. You could still make a medical vending machine.

Regardless, he has raised an entire $100,000 in angel investments. He will not be able to manufacture, sell, deliver, and continually service and maintain any number of vending machines. He would struggle to keep a single one running at the local ballpark, much less sell over 100 to a national chain of amusement parks.

He should have taken the P&G/J&J/medical industrial complex money. $30m for some kids shitty box is a pretty impressive return on investment (crayons, construction paper, patent filing fees, etc.)
>>
>>54658684
Sure, that's the ticket to starting the legal battle.

This why you'll never be great.

I think what he is pointing out is that there is a fundamental flaw in the application towards school sporting events in that you don't need to hire someone or a machine to provide first aid products, you just delegate someone to bring the first aid kit, whether that is the coach or some other support member.

There is nothing for android that has not already been done. It's an over saturated market and nobody actually gets these kinds of offers.

My advice:
Invest in media PC's. More and more people will buy your shitty desktop box to play netflix. Better get in the market before chromecast and roku dominate the market. (which they already pretty much have)

Advertising. Though LINE does have payment things, coins, talking minutes and stuff.

what? he would be upper class all his life... do you know how much 30 million is? no one in the upper middle class would be making 30 million dollars in their lifetime.

We have had band-aids and Advil inside vending machines at our college campus for over three years along with Wifi thumb drives, lead pencils, etc. How the literal fuck is this a ground-breaking concept?

no one on shark tank would pay for this.
>>
>"We noticed that it would cost too much to pay people minimum wage to sit at tournaments for six hours," he said. Then the vending machine idea struck.
So it's cheaper to make a several thousand dollar dispenser and wheel it around several times a week instead of paying 2 people $7.50 an hour or just carrying around a box of band-aids at the price point of a box of band-aids?

People are going to look at this and call it out for the lazy gimmick it is. I'd say the CEO dodged a bullet. It's not worth $30 million. Hell, it's not even worth $3 million. The only people who would be interested in this are businesses who don't want to responsibly keep a first aid kit on hand in case of accidents and then gleefully point parents to a machine where they have to cough up $20 USD to clean and bandage a small scrape on little Bob/Susy. It will not be used for good intentions.

I'm not angry and butthurt about the 14yo. I'm angry and butthurt about the people enabling the 14yo.

You basically have a population of people who are too dumb and lazy to think for themselves or take any personal responsibility and you end up with medical vending machines for school sporting events.

>>
>>54651530
From what I understand he isn't a programmer.
He just has the idea to put aidpacks into a vending machine.

To be honest I'm surprised this wasn't a thing already.
>>
>>54652273
He has identified a market and created a product that exploits that market.

As it currently stands his product is the first and only product that caters to the market.

That is something most businesses won't do in their operational lives.

He is in negotiations with themeparks and other pedestrian heavy businesses for the deployment and maintenance of his product.

The only reason people are upset with him is age and the fact that his very well off parents got his idea off the ground. DESU that sounds like people being butthurt that another fucking child is more successful than they are.
>>
>>54652799
That is inaccurate. His company sells the machines to locations and then negotiates a maintenance deal which includes supplying the machines with product.

Neat idea. But he only has until the patent runs out to make the 30 million or foster some kind of brand recognition, because nothing is going to stop huge corporations making the same vending machines at 1/10th the cost and renting them at half the price. At which point he'll be pretty much fucked.

>>
>>54662984
Simple math. If we assume that a person who makes 200k a year is considered upper middle class

Let's assume that the person starts earning this sum at 25 and they retire at 60. In the course of 35 years they would've earned 7 million, that is without taking into account career growth, switching jobs for higher pay, investment returns, etc. But the estimate will still probably be below 10 million.

The kid refused 30 million for probably a year of non-full time work. And for what? The slight off-chance that he might make a little more money?
>>
Good on him, glad to see stuff like this happening.
