Why would you want to encrypt your USB? We'll send you our agent to help you do that. You're welcome.

USB is a connection protocol. It stands for Universal Serial Bus. These are serial ports. It may sound very slow compared to the parallel ports but in actuality the data transfers are significantly fast these days due to technological advancement these days.

It is a standard bus connection protocol. Bus acts like an information highway of computers. CPU and the OS plays an important role to prevent multiple devices to write data on it. Otherwise there could be two different values (0 or 1) overriding each other and this would result in data corruption or noise.

This event is called bus congestion. As you can see, encrypting USB is not really plausible because this would affect the data read/write process negatively.

Just-in-time hardware encryption (as you suggested) could actually exist but encrypting Bus protocol is not a very good idea

Doesn't matter they'll just make you decrypt it autist...if it's porn just don't download it

>Two way encryption mechanism
>Right passcode: Decrypts files
>Wrong passcode: Rewrites the files with 0
>mfw they can get me but they can never get to my /gif/ folder

dude, that's not how encryption works
you can set up encryption that shows different partitions for different passwords (rubberhose encryption), but it won't actually write over the other partitions just by decrypting another part

USB 3.0 still isn't fast enough, far from ssd performance although some sandisk reaches 250mb for only 64 gigs, drivers are way behind

Storing secure boot OS with hardware encryption at ssd speeds on a thumb drive is appealing

Because yes...someone gives a shit about your collection of shitty ylyl gifs

Buy one that supports it natively and has a data destruction mechanism built in.

Christ, wtf is everyone on about itt?
encrypt the file
copy to usb
done.

If they didn't give a shit why would they search my folder then?

Most government offices still are on xp. You could probably setup an autorun on the wrong password partition and the computer would gladly wipe it for you.

If they really wanna get your pepes though they've already imaged your drive anyways.

GNOME DISKS + LUKS
Be sure to compile cryptsetup;
emerge --ask cryptsetup
