Why do people in STEM careers use thinkpads?
Im on a mechanical/electrical engineering career and pretty much everyone has thinkpads, im the only one with a macbook.
Not only that but pretty much everyone on social science has macbooks and people on medicine/biology/chemistry stuff use only tablets or netbooks.
Why?
A lot of people use in STEM use thinkpads because they're incredibly cheap, and have a somewhat rugged/functional aesthetic.

Probably because they fuck pussy and you get fucked in your boipucci.

They make you look like a cool hacker who doesn't want or need to fit in with the crowd.
So, of course everyone buys one.

My X200 cost me $120.
also,
Lenovo making generic shitty overpriced trash under the ThinkPad name isn't what literally anyone means when they say ThinkPad. It's IBM TPs everyone's talking about.

For engineers, function>look
For social science, look>function
MBC are manlets

the lenovo models are rugged enough and you can easily swap out any part
doesn't carry the IBM brand or quality but nothing does any more

>not knowing when /g/ talks about thinkpads its referring to used and old thinkpads, mostly from companies getting rid of them to renovate every ecouple of years
If you get a brand new Thinkpad youre a retard senpai.
