I haven't reviewed it in very much detail.

However, it's not using Axolotl/Noise so it's definitely not at the top of its class cryptographically, it reveals communication metadata to passive or active attackers, and it appears to be easy to link identities to IP addresses. I couldn't put it in "god-tier" of IMs.

Secure communication in general is a very hard problem to solve and is still an open research problem. Tox does better than Skype in that respect, but still not really "good enough".

But it means well - and meaning well is a good start, which is to say that I expect that in time, it might be able to adapt or pick up newer techniques and may eventually evolve into something good, when good things come out of research.
