I;m genuinely interested in installing Gentoo after reading up a little on it.
Is there anything I should know other than not to install it on my main machine because time sink?
Am I falling for a meme?
Should I install on VM first instead of on actual hardware (even though it isn't my main machine and I could care less about old hardware)?
Am I an idiot?

That would be the main thing
>Am I falling for a meme?
Obviously

Probably

If you have a UEFI system, use the live CD. Minimal installation doesn't support UEFI.

Does the live CD play nice with Virtualbox's EFI? Because that would be ideal to test out the install before I go for it on actual hardware. If not, it really doesn't matter, I'll just go straight to hardware.

I really don't know m8, I didn't try it on vbox.

Be sure to dedicate all your cores to the vm or it's going to take a long time to compile everything
