Can Windows 10 be modified in such a way as to prevent Microsoft from fucking me in the ass?
>>
The answer to that is
>>
>>54617234
Yes.
Diagtrack service can be purged with linux live distro. It's responsible for collecting and submitting telemetry to ms servers.
Rest can be done through group policy.
>>
>>54617234
Use Entreprise, nigger.
>>
>>54617234
Just block every known microsoft domain and all IP-ranges in your router firewall, then use a Win10-AntiSpy like Destroy Windows10 Spying.
>>
>fucking me in the ass

Well let me take a wild guess here. /g/ must have told you that. Yes? So what the fuck is with you listening to random advice on web? No? Then ask the one that told you.
>>
DWS_lite
OOSU10
>>
>>54617234
install gentoo.
>>
>>54617234
The safest way is to use a router with IP white listing, but you will need to manually add all the trusted IP's you want to connect only. This shouldn't be too bothersome, unless you use big services with many domains like google, It's not wise to add big domains either.

You can't do this with a firewall since the OS could bypass it without your knowledge.
>>
>>54617595
This. But make sure the router is at least 10 years old.
>>
>>54617483
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=windows+10+tracking
>>
>>54617595

It is even easier to run your system with no default route. use an ethernet wire to a cheap $30 openwrt router, install privoxy on it and be cautious when letting your browser of choice in on the proxy informations (so the OS doesn't know).
>>
>>54617613
So? I use windows 10 for my work etc. I watch movies sometimes, browse web, check emails and that's that. I don't care tracking bullshit. They can do whatever the fuck they want. It doesn't affect me.
>>
>>54617673
Yes please feed the corporations with more user data. I wont follow the other lemmings.
>>
>>54617772
There's literally zero issue with feeding corporations data if user consents to it.
>>
>>54617772

You accepted their terms anon and so did I.
>>
>>54617234
>muh privacy

telemetry isn't spying and is in Windows since XP, you fucking tinfoil hat speglord
>>
>>54617838
>what is EULA
A concept that has fine intent but is being used to spy on consumers for W10, I ain't accepting those terms.
>>
>>54617673
It can affect you, you just haven't thought how could it affect you. Hint: You don't necessary need to do anything illegal or political related.

Anyways it's really not hard to just use W10 for video games and do everything else in a laptop, I connect my laptop to a big TV and watch stuff there. There is literally no reason to use W10 for movies, mail, web, anything else except video games.
>>
Yes.
Install gentoo
>>
>>54617234
Local account
Set telemetry to basic (you cannot disable it)
Disable everything on privacy settings (so they dont get what you search for, etc)
>>
>>54617961
>i ain't accepting

EULA is the big fucking notice you should agree to before installing Microsoft or any other proprietary software. If you don't accept, the installation will not proceed. Now since you already have windows I assume you agreed to eula.

>>54617965
Nice insight anon. But could Microsoft really give a fuck on what my political preferences are? I don't think I have anything illegal maybe few downloaded songs but who cares? Everyone might have downloaded them. Also I did not install windows 10, windows 8 upgraded itself.
>>
>>54618132

In button only, i'll disable whatever the hell I want on my OS because I don't want that shit.
>>

>>

>>
>>54618249
My hardware my rules, I really can't see how anyone in their right mind can actually accept the level of "telemetry" that goes in W10, even if you don't care about privacy it's system resources being taken up by someone making money off you, a bitcoin miner by any other name.
>>
>>54617793
>>54618132
>It's alright to spy on users because we have the legal right for it
Thats the reason everybody hates lawers
>>
>>54617234
No, it's impossible. Even if you disable the keylogging, the telemetry and all of the other spyware and malware which comes bundled with this operating system, it'll still spy on you. Windows also had a registry key called "NSA key" even way back on windows xp and NT. Stay away from Windows as much as possible.
>>
>>54618132
It's not company I care about but the people behind. I don't want a a stranger to have access to everything I or my family does, information can be sell or used outside without the company consent.

Interesting point.
>>

Why go through the fucking hassle? By the time you installed a router firewall, blocked IPs, installed scripts to remove shit from your OS yadda yadda, you could've just installed a not-shit OS like debian or gentoo.

You are so fucking stupid. You are assuming the you are always going to be living in a free society. If at some point the United States becomes a totalitarian government you are automatically disqualifying yourself from joining any military resistance to that totalitarian regime because that regime would know every fucking little detail about you. Who your friends are, what text books you used in school.

If you were to ever join the resistance, you'd be a liability to it. By installing windows 10, you're making the prospect of the United States government become totalitarian more probable.

Much Windows.

There are a lot more problems than game incompability in Linux desktop world. A LOT more. In fact, game incompabilty is the smalest of the problems.
>>
>>54620077

Linux is idiot proof now, much moreso than Windows. There's no reason to be on Windows outside of gaymen or AutoCAD.
>>
>>54620328

This could easily be done inside of an unnetworked Windows VM or in WINE.

It's absurd to complain about Microsoft's abuses and then refuse to switch operating systems because of a single task that you infrequently perform, a task that could be performed on another OS with a bit of tweaking.
>>
>>54620619
WINE sucks. You clearly only know about using WINE to game in theory and have never used it.

Gaming in Linux is not viable. The target market for all AAA video games being produced to day is males between the ages of 24 and 32.

Microsoft openly cooperates with a federal agencies whose institutional goal is "Collect it all." Their EULA explicitly gives them the power to collect all your information and disseminate it however they please. There is no backdoor, because they don't need one, Microsoft walks through the front door.

Depends on what you understand by " prevent Microsoft from fucking me in the ass".

According to MS own articles, the lowest possible level of telemetry is so called "security level", officially only for Enterprise/Edu editions. It this setting, data being send to MS is limited to your device ID, device class (desktop, laptop, etc), OS version, MSRT report (not present if you disabled MSRT in general), Defender report (not present if you have any 3rd party AV installed and running - Defender will stay active if you dont, even disabled, it will turn back on anyway).

As you can see, the data is being send anyway, as the "Connected User Experience and Telemetry component settings" is always on - the content of the packages is controlled by settings. "If data has been gathered and is queued to be sent, the Connected User Experience and Telemetry component downloads its settings file from Microsoft’s servers.".

MSRT report can contain some private information, so it is suggested to turn it off as well.

There is also solution of killing the diagtrack service and adjusting some files to make it stay that way instead of restarting, so I cant say for sure if this really work, as I dont have running Win10 myself (I stay on 7).
