What's /g/'s opinion on this one?
Is there any money in it for developers?
Is there any decent content for users?

130€ is a fuckton of money tbqh

I got mine for free with my S7. Shit is pretty cool for looking at 360 pictures and Google Maps. I got six free games with mine, but I haven't even played them

Got mine with my S7 too.

Miles better than Cardboard in every respect - smooth, responsive tracking, 90 degree fov, and backed up by a company that actually knows what they're doing, to some degree.

The only real problem right now is the dearth of high-quality software, especially games. There's some good stuff on there, don't get me wrong - but there's no real AAA experiences on there yet.

It's got a shit load of potential, though. The bar is pretty low for getting onto the store right now, so devs should jump on this thing. Users will buy whatever's given to em, even if it's a port of Hitman Go or a shitty kart racer that's slower and more boring than 50CC in Mario Kart.

There is a Minecraft port, but it's a bit rough around the edges. Still awesome, though. Someone also ported Quake, and that's quite the experience.

As far as non-game software, there's not much outside of video streaming and 360 photos. The internet browser is unwieldy and doesn't really have any advantages to being used in VR, but demoing the 360 photos to my friends always gets a great reaction.

In short: great device, still in the process of getting the support it needs. There's some great stuff already (Minecraft, Omega Agent, Esper 2, Smash Hit, Herobound, all the Oculus apps) but it needs more software.

What are some apps that you feel like are missing?
I honestly might develop them if they'd mean getting paid.

Not that anon, but if you can write worth a damn I'd like to see some story driven VR games.
