Synthwave has nothing to do with industrial rock, and most industrial rockers are just Skinny Puppy/Ministry copycats
>>54617574
>Not him but ones a cheap immitation that doesnt innovate.
Your opinion, man. The synthwave artists that he was talking about are actually pretty innovative. Not sure what you mean by cheap. Listen to them and then to actual music from the 80's they were inspired by and you'll see a difference. Also, synthwave is the only legit genre out of those, others are memes so I've no idea why you're even taking them seriously.
>>54617596
Synthwave isnt industrial, but its nothing new and will never come close to the complexity and ground breakingness of something like rydeen.
That aside, drawing inspiration is fine, listen to that new flux pavilion album. He incorporates that old school style without purely imitating it
>>54617619
Synthwave is pretty much just Amiga videogame music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_8Pma1vHmw
>>54616448
I like perturbator though. I like new retro wave because it does feel more 80s dystopia than anything else. Industrial is kinda shit.

>>54617686

you will notice a huge difference.
>>54614616
That would be neat. There is a steampunk bar in my city, it's pretty comfy as well.
>>54617686
Perturbator just has a bass synth note going for him. Hes alright but it doesnt capture 80s dystopia very well
>>54617719
I like both and listen to both very often. I have a vinyl of blade runner OST, and I bought copies of Perturbator's stuff. You're just being a hipster fag again.
I thought cyberpunk was a just a subgenre of dystopian sci-fi.
the closest to "real" cyberpunks are just people who follow the whole hacker subculture and those who apply DIY punk ethic of the 70s-80s to technology. And the latter are more like clean-cut castrated "hipster-geeks" than "punks"
>>54617733
>steampunk
the absolutely disgustingly shit-tier version of cyberpunk
Sadly i know that community a bit simply because they overlap a bit, but god-damn the steampunk community is simply full of LOSERS and i mean that in the traditional form. fucking weirdo's who think they're tough shit in their isolated communities the old fucks are just middle-management tier losers who probably cuck out their wifes-said wifes are just plain degenerate whores and they are into the "goth and fetish scene" almost every fucking time. gays, trannies. fuck that. i'll stick to /cyb/
at least here in vegas, sin city probably amplifies the degeneracy 10x so don't take my word as defacto.

>>54617859
When your point is "that reboot of an old music style that everyone likes right now is total unoriginal pretentious shit, go listen to real stuff like blade runner ost kid or some industrial from the 90s" I think the term hipster is pretty suitable.
You can enjoy both without being an obnoxious poser about it.
>>54617851
you do know that the water tanks are connected to the tank in your bathroom and you can still heat the water normally right?
One tank is enough for person anyways unless you live with like 5 other people.

>You can enjoy both
Yes you can. On rare ocasion i'll put on some "lazerhawk"
but you can't label it cyberpunk because that is not what pertubator or lazerhawk is. it never will be.
>>54617917
He was right in a sense though, and it is unoriginal. Its like how i could write a 80s pop song using 4chords and a band, aure it would sound alright but its unoriginal and would be tainted by the fact its a generalisation.
>>54617943
>
but you can't label it cyberpunk because that is not what pertubator or lazerhawk is. it never will be.
Just your opinion.

Shows your knowledge of electronic music production. Opinion discarded.
>>54618050

>>54618074
Its an analogy or whatever. I could write x using y. Pertubator is simplistic though, sure old synths take lomger to program but that doesnt mean its more complex.
You draw your conclusions too fast.
>>54618208
>Its an analogy or whatever. I could write x using y.

Cypherpunks are activists who advocate the widespread use of strong cryptography (writing in code) as a route to progressive change. Julian Assange, the editor-in-chief of and visionary behind WikiLeaks, has been a leading voice in the cypherpunk movement since its inception in the 1980s.

People that get up in arms about what music constitutes being cyberpunk or not need to get over themselves. Nobody liked industrial music anyway. New retro wave is reminiscent of 80s movie soundtracks which will forever be entwined with a growing awareness of the cyberpunk esthetic.

But seriously, if you are exclusively using either Windows or OS X, you aren't living a very cyberpunk lifestyle. The *BSDs and GNU/Linux distros are far more cyberpunk than their mainstream competitors.
Why, you may ask? The *BSDs and Linux distros aren't nearly as under anyone's thumb as Windows and OS X. It's a community effort. They have tons of customizable features. If you can build it, you can run it. You can download any free software you like, modify it to your liking, and make it do whatever the hell you like. That's software hacking, for ya.

I'm not saying it's a guarantee that jacket will be a red flag, a confident enough person could rock it graciously

What is solar heated/electric preheated water tank boiler ?
>>54614652
It was the early 90s, the last generation where it was just a thing people did and not a political statement/act of rebellion or whatever kids think it is these days.

2. Move to one of the richer and more relevant 3rd world shitholes
3. Join up with the local crime syndicate
4. Add drugs and edgy techno

Probably gonna die.
>>54617851
You don't know anything. What you do know is that you spoke while knowing you didn't know shit to begin with.
In South Africa, pretty much every home has solar panels on their roofs for hot water needs(as far back as the 90s). Even coming from a family of six we never had problems with hot water. The water in the tank can easily stay hot throughout the night.
Maybe in life you should learn to stay silent when you are ignorant, rather than prove to everyone how foolish you are.

I've never installed Gentoo, and I don't intend to any time soon. I just stick with Debian. It's harder to fuck up than Gentoo, and it also offers a lot of stability and customization.

Break into a megacorp
>>54614272
Why so? Cyberpunk is already here - just wait a little when megacorps got more power than goverment. Oh wait~
>>54645410
the only thing missing that i fucking hate about our cyberpunk reality are the megastructures.
where are the megacities with giant skyscrapers and high-rises for hundreds of miles?
>>54645445
>where are the megacities with giant skyscrapers and high-rises for hundreds of miles?

awesome stuff, random anon that dumps his folder. what are some /cyb/ books and movies? Only thing that gets to my mind is Frozen Synapse, a turn based strategy game. It's got a kinda cyberpunkey plot going on.
Not one mention of
God Flesh or The Amenta
You are all faggots
What is it about /cyb/ that is so thought provoking?
For me, looking at those futuristic images of cities makes me feel a combination of both awe and terror. The notion that we could create a society that is so technologically and culturally different from our humble beginnings that it marginalizes what it means to be human. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time. Maybe that's our fate as technology marches forward, even if it just seems like fiction now.
>>54649834
>futuristic images of cities makes me feel a combination of both awe and terror
Like William Gibson said
>Modern Japan is cyberpunk
When he visited Tokyo. That said , Japan is quite strong opponent to be cyberpunk because their way of seeing how technology could serve them is totally cyb.
>le western tard : Ermagerh we lose jobbs cuz' robots
In japan they don't see it.
who /cyb-grime/ here?
https://soundcloud.com/xlr8r/kenji-kawai-making-of-a-cyborg

I think it's because he became mainstream, but I have to agree with you street fever is very gesafelstein - viol if I had to chose a single song to relate it with same shrill / dark feel to it.

That is actually happening though and the problem is we don't have enough jobs for people that aren't smarter than programmable robots any more.
>>54649341
obviously the sprawl trilogy is a must read.
I'd venture so far as to call Peter Watts-es Rifters trilogy cyberpunk or at least technoire
