Is it a good idea to use gloves for handling technology equipment? Does anyone use some?

I only use Gloves when coming near my precious IBM ThinkPads in my Tempreture controlled and UV Lightless echo chamber.
Looks like the J key grew a god damned pimple.

Generally no, because of static. Your (wet/oily) skin is a decent conductor so static tends to dissipate and make its way to ground (provided your are grounded), whereas most glove material is a near-perfect insulator.
There are however ESD-safe gloves designed for this purpose, just like regular tools (screwdriver, wrench) they will cost significantly more.
