>>

That's basically it, I'm thinking of probably just watching you tube and shit, nothing hardcore.
I'm pretty hyped rn.
>>
Will a 6 inch phone fit in it?
>>
>>54604354
the google cardboard is pretty shitty, you can get something much better for the same price from aliexpress.
But anyway, there are no content, all apps and boring and stupid, it's gread for video thuough
>>
>>54604354
1. Really annoying to build, it comes as flat perforated cardboard.
2. No strap, need to hold it to your head.
3. Sharp card board on face is really uncomfortable.
4. Same your money and buy a cheap plastic one with a head strap and foam padding for the face.

Wait, for realsies? You'd think there'd be some info about this on /csg/

alphabet invented stereograms?

a sentence that could only be a non sequitur in the 21st century
>>
>>54604973
I have one for my 5.7 inch note 3.
>>
>>54606517
>annoying to build
I found it quite fun, actually. A throwback to doing papercraft stuff as a kid.
>No strap
Mine came with one, and it was a really shitty Chinese version
>uncomfortable
It can be but it doesn't bother me much for just watching short videos.
>buy a cheap plastic one
Reasonable advice but the rock-bottom tier one is still worth grabbing as an intro to decide whether you're interested.

This
>>
>>54604354
It's shit and a gimmick.

I have 3 cardboards, 1 oculus and 1 vive consumer version.

It's all gimmicks and not that impressive. It's not as breathtaking as people want you to believe. It's like the people calling it "a huge step!" are the same idiots that think that 360 photos are amazing to look at with their phones. It's just a fucking gimmick that you'll use once or twice then never use again.
>>
>>54606517
It takes like 30 seconds to put together
>>
You people are really wasting $15 on a piece of literal fucking CARDBOARD with two little round pieces of glass (DOESNT EVEN HAVE A STRAP).

FUCKING IDIOTS LIKE YOU ARE WHY COMPANIES SELL ABSOLUTE CRAP BECAUSE THEY KNOW RETARDS WILL BUY IT.

>>

Wasn't talking about chink shit, mah man :^)
>>
>>54607280
It's cardboard and plastic, there's no difference.
>>
>>54607293
Not my point. I'm talking about Google selling it for $15.
>>
I got one for free from mini cooper they're a ton of fun and some of the apps are really cool but I wouldn't waste my money on it...It's very short lived
>>
>>54606825
Is it because the graphics are usually pretty low tier, even for the Oculus and Vive?
>>
Where can I find some decent content for Cardboard? Any apps I should download?
>>
>>54606843
false.
>>
It's kinda neat if you have the right phone. Needs something atleast 1080p and all the sensors and shit.

Don't buy a cardboard cutout, it'll be uncomfortable and gay to use for more than 5 minutes. Atleast get a chink headset with a strap, comfort and adjustment for ~$20.

>>54607370
The "graphics" will depend on your cellphone PPI and processing speed, since you just put your phone in them. I'm pretty sure an Oculus will be better in PPI then most smart phone screens, and the processing will always be better on a gaming rig then a smartphone.
>>
>>54607780
If you aren't inept*
>>
It looks like shit with 1080p. Don't even try without a 4K phone.
>>
You bought one?

It's easy enough to get one for free. Companies regularly give them away.
>>
>>54607306

Google does not sell it for $15. Google does not sell any first party Cardboard unit at all - they only sell third party licensed designs. The only first party Cardboards were given out for free at I/O and during a holiday promotion with Lucasfilm/Disney for Star Wars.
>>
>>54604973
My Mate 7 fits, but it shuts off because it holds down the buttons
Also, it looks pixelated as fug
>>
>>54604354
I got an off brand one thats the exact same thing with a headstrap, it's alright for movies and porn if your phone is big enough for it to look good (5 inches and up works well). Other than that, it's very meh, especially for games. It's mainly so you can try it before you buy into a pricey headset imo
>>
>>54604973
Nexus 6 fits
>>
How's the video watching experience with this? As in, can I watch normal videos with it?
>>
>>54606517
I would not say it's annoying to put it togheter, but anon is right on the other parts.

Order one with a strap
It's cheap m8, don't be affraid to waste your precious shekeru
>>
>>54609668
VRTV free (android) takes regular videos and makes them watchable with vr. I would guess that any phone with a resolution smaller than 1080 wouldn't look good enough to use it (that's just my opinion though)
>>
>>54607841
I was talking about the top end VR sets meant to be driven by 980ti's and Fury X's. Even those have graphics comparable to games from 4-5 years ago, right?
>>
Doesn't vr damage eyesight? Looking at things that close have to have *some* effect over time.
>>
I still have yet to find a VR headset that fits my glasses. One that isn't over $600 anyways.
>>
>>54609776
nope science has proven that myth to be false.
>>
>>54607723
Looking for this also. So far I've only watched Pornhub stuff.
>>
cardboard is a shitty children's toy in comparison to the actual headsets

The difference even between that and a gear vr is night and day

I love my gear, but I hate the lack of software support
