So I turned on my computer and left to take a dump while it booted and I come back and find its been raped by Microsoft and installing windows 10. What should I expect when it's done fondling my poor laptop

A decent OS, unless you don't have an SSD, then have fun

Windows 10 is everything its predecessor should have been: it adapts between tablets and laptops, provides a consistent performance across phones and Xbox, and works as fast as the interfaces people have become used to fromGoogleandApple. That it is accompanied byholographic goggles even shows nostalgic, vaulting ambition from Microsoft.
What does Windows 10 really offer? There’s the Start Menu, back to make life easier, or to make up for Microsoft making life harder by taking it away. There’s increased use of OneDrive, although Microsoft also has a new(ish) partnership with Dropbox, who people trust more. That means you can access files anywhere, all the time. There’s comprehensive integration of Cortana, the voice assistant who can take on Siri and Google Now in the battle to be the best hardly used feature offered to still largely indifferent consumers. There’s a new stripped-down browser codenamed Spartan that offers a reading mode, the chance to annotate webpages or save them to read later, and generally do a host of things that are available in a host of other products.
If this makes it sound like Windows 10 isn’t a great leap forward for consumers, that’s because it’s hard to see where it is. But that’s not the point: this is a new piece of software that will be used by billions over years to come and needs to just work. The company dropped the ball last time round and it needs to regain the faith of manufacturers and consumers alike. In that context, the HoloLens glasses that Microsoft also unveiled may overlay the world with additional information on its semi-transparent lenses, but it exists as much to reassure the world that Microsoft’s Windows 10 is backed up by radical new ideas too. They may yet change the world, if the world suddently becomes populated by people happy to wear stupid-looking glasses, or some very clever industrial designers make them look a lot better.

I don't have an ssd and it boots in 30 seconds
I am in the exact same situation, lad. It just got done installing and my eyes are burning up. Holy fuck it's ugly.
If not a troll, you have 30 days from the upgrade to switch back to the previous OS. Careful, I recall a new KB that will fuck up your system if you run a older ASUS on 7.

Reading comprehension!
>>54603725
Ehh, I don't hate Win10. Certainly an improvement over 8.
Seems a bit faster than 7 on my laptop (Precision M4800/i7/32GB RAM)
>>54604168
Whoooah! Do you have HD video of this?

Nice try
>>54603725
Definitely gonna want a shell program to emulate the look of Win 7. That's my biggest gripe with 10.

>alienwear
You were fucked from the beginning. Just Dell tagged you ass off to Microsoft.
>>54603725
Power off
Wipe hard disk
Install GNU/Linux
Install virtualbox
Install windows 7 within a VM
Give no internet access
Profit
Only sane option I know
Win10 is alright as long as you have pro and disabled all the botnet. Home is literally Sheep: The operating system.
>>54604447
That's fucking slow
I have an SSD and windows 7 boots in 5 seconds, same with windows 10
>>54605592
>disabled all the botnet
>>54605646
What
>>54603725
A more faster, secure, supported and privacy respected OS compared to Win 8.1/7 and Linux.
Dude, the best part of OP is the bag of chips behind the laptop. Those MFrs are good as fuck with some salsa and nacho cheese dip.

This
Time to go off the grid, boys
Do a back up, set aside a few hours and have it do a complete fresh install. Upgrades are dirty and I've seen a few systems with problems after so far.
>>54605766
Well im not saying you can disable /all/ botnet because it probably goes much deeper than we think, but you can at least disable all tracking options and not send data to microsoft.
>>54603725
Just click decline when it asks if you agree, and it will restore everything back to normal.
