What is objectively the best laptop size?
>>
14"

12-13" is too small
15" is too large
14" is Juuuuust right.
>>
>>54578895
12-13 inches for a laptop you need to move with constantly, 14 for a general use laptop, anything bigger you may as well get a desktop.
>>
>>54578895
12,5"
>>
13,3", objectively.
>>
>>54578895

13 is too small, 14 is weird, 17in is too big

>>
>>54578895
15 is big enough to watch movies w/ qt3.14 gf, small enough to fit in backpack.
Anything bigger is retarded, anything smaller should be a tablet
>>
>>54578990
>buying shinkpads
>>
>>54578972
14 is only weird because apple doesn't make a 14" laptop

If they did you'd be touting 14" as the savior of the planet.
>>
I have always used 15.6 laptops but I am thinking of "downgrading" to a 14 inch as I take my laptops to uni pretty much every day. My only concern is gaming and video might be hindered. Thoughts?
>>
>>54579130
>gaming
well you're a fucking retard for gaming on a laptop to begin with senpai.
>>
>>54579130

Are you special?
>>
19"
>>
I'm fine with anything 10"+
15+ starts to get too big.
>>
14" because that's what I own
>>
There is no objective best size. It depends on the individual's specific needs.
>>
>>54578895
12-13.3
>>
>>54579024
except the 15in rMBP is about the same size as a 13/14in laptop but still has 15in
>>
Personally I think 14"
I have a 13" laptop and although it's comfy af, sometimes I feel it's little bit too small

>>54579263
What if he cant afford to buy a laptop and a dekstop, but need a laptop no matter what?
I've been gayming for 4 years now on my 13" mba

>>54579296
That's gotta be the faggest trip ever
>>
>>54579359
Then lets make a 14" laptop the size of 10-11" laptops

sorry but your argument well THIS 15" is actually smaller wont work. if that's the case make an even smaller 14"
>>
13.3
>>
I have a 15" laptop and it's just a tad big, I'd say 13-14 is perfect.
>>

15" laptop the size of 13-14" is a 15"

But a 14" laptop the size of 12-13" is 13"?

You sure know how to apply logic.
>>
I like 13 and 14. 15.4 is nice on the rMBP 15
>>
12.1" with a 4:3 screen.

>>

This is literally the elder god tier but the only laptop that I know of with those proportions is X60/X61 which is way too outdated now. Really a shame no one managed to replicate the beauty of X61, the best ultraportable ever created.
I use 16:9 14" now because everything is shit anyway and I can't afford pixel.

I like 13" laptops, because I don't really have a use for a number pad on a laptop (most of my typing is on a desktop at home), and a number pad on a laptop pushes the a-z keys to the left, on a keyboard layout that already prefers the left hand

> The QWERTY layout has more than 3,000 words that are typed on the left hand alone and about 300 words that are typed on the right hand alone

10-12" is the perfect balance for usability and portability.

17" is just stupid large but generally has more power and options at the cost of portability (which is sillt for a device designed to be portable)

15" is ok if you need a full size keyboard and numberpad and multiple drives but it is still pretty unwieldy. A decent compromise if you need a mobile work station.

14" is an awkward inbetween size. It's a mix of 12" and 15" but with the advantages of neither.

12" is a good size laptop. The keyboard is not cramped and has more than enough space for a full size standard keyset (minus the number pad). Not really an issue these days, but most 12" machines don't have space for an optical or other second drive.

10" is a good size convertible and practically the same size and feature set as 12"

Anything smaller is a poor laptop and always compromises in too many ways.
>>
7-10 inch screen. A laptop is for portability not power. Thus it should be as small as possible.

>>
>>54593264
what do you need dedicated graphics for? Is rendering something really necessary for a portable platform?

>>
I'm very fond of 14/14.1" and prefer it over all others. Working on a Dell Latitude E6420 at the moment (14"), owned an E6400 before that (14.1"), got a ThinkPad T430 a few days ago (14"), it just works better for me. Larger displays usually bring along the thing I probably despise most of all: full size keyboards on a laptop meaning it has the fucking numeric keypad as well.

Fuck that, it ain't happening. Can't tolerate that off-center shit - call it OCD or whatever you want, I don't give a fuck, it just ain't workable.

Can't tolerate MacBooks, too many issues with actual ergonomics and the keyboards are fucking shit and always have been.

mobile workstations have been a thing for a while and there aren't many below 14/15" form factor. Anything smaller simply can't handle the power consumption or heat output of workstation tier hardware, resulting in the use of either integrated or low end cards (940m in the surface book).

What pisses me off is people who have fat gaming laptops with shit battery life act all superior to people with lighter and longer-lasting laptops because their overheating pieces of crap that weigh 20 pounds can run Crysis at medium settings.
