Can you actually upgrade the processor on a classic thinkpad? I thought you could only add more ram/ssd? What is this?

the problem with upgrading laptop components is that they are all linked much more than in a desktop.

If you install a more powerfull cpu there are risk to consider. Is the batery/power supply gonna handle it? Will the fan be sufficent to cool the ekstra heat developed?

Cpus are soldered into them so please stop talking out of your ass.

so then unsolder it like a man and stop being an edgy faggot, you worthless Millennial trash.

OP, go ask in DIY, no one here can handle this kind of question or any other tech question for that matter.

There exist socketed CPUs on laptops.

The T420 is one such example.

Says the edgy faggot who also doesn't know what he's talking about.

Not only is there such a thing as a socketed laptop CPU, but it's also possible to upgrade BGA CPUs.

Yep, only a few X220 brands like the X220s have soldered chips. Possibly the t as well, but as long as you take into account motherboard architecture and TDP then you should have no problem replacing the CPU with a much better one.

can't do it on the x200s
