From what I've read so far, pic related was inspired by Adblock Plus, which is an improved version of the original Adblock extension. I'm having trouble finding anything about that first one, though. Anyone here remember using it or can shed some light?

I remember using something called WebWasher back when IE6 ruled the world, that had to be in like 2003. Wasn't a browser addon, it was a separate application, think it worked as a proxy. Back then filtering out images by dimensions actually removed 90% of banner ads.
there's probably been ad-blockers for as long as theres been ads on webpages. just recently that normies found out you could do that, is the thing.
