the only other carrier that doesn't have shit tier coverage is at&t

tmobile is a meme that only works if you're in a city
>>
This is why I went to the iphone, I loved android so much ever since the Tmobile G2, but man I just couldn't stand it not being snappy at all times. I normally don't mind stuff like that but with a mobile device, the annoying factor is amplified because you just wanna check something really quick.

Also it's definitely touchwiz, I really wish that when you first boot the phone it has the option for stock android instead of the manufacturer skin.

This is true. Still doesn't compete with Verizon's ridiculous network.

I had T-Mobile for a month, and it was pretty good when it worked, but when I went home for a break, my phone was showing connection to USA Comm-Net because I was out of the normal coverage area. Meanwhile, my brother on Verizon was showing 2 bars of LTE. I'm just waiting for them to continue improving so I can get off Verizon again :|

>>54573476
Android's fundamental flaw is the language it was written in, which is Java. I'm not an Apple user, but we know that iOS is lag free and offers a better day to day performance than Android. That's because it was written in C (C++, Objective C). What needs to happen to Android is a complete overhaul. Every new Android device should be a 64 bit one, but the main thing that should be changed is the language in which it's written in - meaning that Android should be rewritten in the future, but in C. This is highly unlikely, but we can hope. Here's a better explanation with examples: https://youtu.be/TDBTiwjTT0k.

A 500% increase in performance doesnt mean shit compared to optimized software, I.E AOSP, iOS etc

People talk about touchwizz etc being bloat, maybe in regards to ram but it's usually poor kernel implementation, slow emmc or a mixture of the two that causes subjective lag.
>>
I'm pretty sure advances in mobile processors are eaten up by increasing screen resolutions a lot of the time. We've gone from Android phones having 320 x 480 screens to 1440p and even 4k screens. Hopefully things will change now that pixel densities are so high you literally can't notice increases from here on out, so advances in processing power will go more towards powering the OS and applications than rendering higher screen resolutions.

But yeah, I'm getting kinda tired of Android myself. My Nexus 6p is generally snappy, but it suffers from the occasional slowdown and I'm wondering if I'd be better off getting an iPhone next time. Last time I used an iOS device was when I had the first generation iPod touch though kek.

I removed some of the meh Cyanogenmod applications and features, just shit I would never use, but otherwise it's great. All the extra features the old CM offered, and some new ones, while at the same time being on the "latest" Android version.

Only issue I have is the way they handle external storage and stuff now in Marshmallow. It's all done through the Settings application, and applications that used to be able to handle it don't seem to even recognize USBs anymore. I probably just need to look into it more, but that's my only complaint. You can't copy files to the USB in the settings application, only from!!

How about we say this instead. If you're not computer literate enough to tweak some settings then Android isn't for you. If you're too lazy then shell out the money, nobody is going to stop you from falling for the meme. But we are going to laugh at your stupid ass when you pretend you're superior.

I always buy older flagships, 1-2 years old, and I pay $125-200 for them. Sometimes I use custom roms, sometimes I make the best of stock. Everything I need runs fine and lag is only occasionally an issue.

I've been on the Korean variant of the LG G2 with the SD card slot and removable battery for more than a year. It's gotten pretty beaten up so I just bought a brand new Galaxy S5 and I'm just waiting for it to come in the mail. I'll spend some time tweaking it and finding the best setup for my needs. Not having to waste a few hours of my time is not worth spending $400-500 more for a meme phone, or worse yet being locked into a shitty contract with a provider and spending lots of money for the same thing I can get for an MVNO. That shit adds up. I could afford it, I've even considered it, but why should I? I can think of better things to do with that extra $50 each month.

I have stamina mode on all the time, only use WiFi or roaming when I need to use it, screen on minimum etc etc.
Yesterday (didn't screenshot, so take me with a grain of salt) I was on 1 day 11 hours of use with 6.5 hours of screen time at 50% battery.
I'm also rooted with 4.4.4, nothing special but I only run OS and music in the background, everything else stops when I turn off my screen.

My mate with a z5c reports similar, maybe slightly less time, than I but I don't know what he does. I do know he NEVER looks at his fucking phone though..... God damn it's hard to contact him.
>>
>>54581306
Oh! There IS an issue with the Z battery however, related to another thread about lithium batteries.....

I ran an experiment a while ago, after my phone started dying in a day or less of use...... If you charge your phone battery with the wrong charger (wrong amps) you WILL damage your battery and reduce its life considerably.
The only way fix that is buy a new $30(au) battery and replace it.

It's easy to do, but say goodbye to waterproofing (unless you send it back to Sony, they'll keep it going).

I live in a small beach community, that has a population of 500, in the centrally in the middle of nowhere, T-Mobile was the only cell service that had any reception that reached home, and the coverage has largely improved outside of cities the last 2 years.

More like, your phone is probably full of shit bloatware, and or is a Samsung Device using the shit slow Touchwiz launcher... meaning, you would have to root your phone to get all the bullshit off of it the manufacturer wants to spam you with. You're right you shouldn't have to root, but the manufacturer also shouldn't have to load bullshit software on your phone that does not allow itself to be uninstalled.

I have an LG G4 with a Snapdragon 808 and 3GB RAM. It never lags. I had a LG G Flex2 with a Snapdragon 810 and it was a laggy piece of shit. My Nexus 5 was awesome and never lagged, though my Nexus 9 was really fast and awesome, it did have weird lag sometimes. I hear different people complaining about phones I've had zero problems with and it makes me assume they have a bunch of bullshit apps and games on their device... leading to lag/crashes/reduced battery life/etc. I did root my G4 but it was mostly because I wanted to unlock it... I'm still running the carrier version of Marshmallow on it. Anyone with a Samsung device should expect to deal with lag and shit unless they replace the touchwiz launcher. All those awesome specs don't really mean shit if your launcher is a flaming pile of excrement.

What? TouchWiz goes beyond the launcher.

I'm scared because it was bought by Microsoft.

Touchwiz definitely does not help.

Even my Droid turbo 2 doesn't lag, and that has some noteworthy bloatware on it.

Microsoft paid them to put MS apps on CyanogenOS. They are still their own company, and have not been bought by anyone yet.

Guess what? Motorola sells unlocked, CDMA capable phones with card slots. Getting the specific one you want to work on Verigreedy's network might be a different issue though. Do some googling.

I have a Note 4 with an older Exynos CPU and I never seen any lag on this device. This thing abso-fucking-lutely flies.

I doubt the new S7 would lag.

I also keep stamina on all the time. Roaming is always off. I do use wifi much of the time, so that might be it. Also I have an app running in the background (Telegram) that may be affecting things. I don't keep brightness at the minimum but I do tend to get it relatively low. I guess my problem is probably a mix of those three things. Thanks

I've been using an aftermarket charger that think is fine, but I'll check it against the stock charger. I chose not to use the stock charger because I'm in the US and with the wall socket adapter it sticks out of the wall waaay to far. I'll see what I can do though. Again, thanks for the insight here.

But it does have the problem of not not being able to install a custom ROM like locked bootloader phones. It's like you didn't understand the problem at all

Of course you didn't, you have an iToy
