Hi /g/.
I come from /biz/
I've been doing fundamental analysis for some time already, but I want to get into quantative analysis and this requires me to know some programming. I want to be able to make trading algorithms.
I know a tiny little bit of Python and some Batch from when I was a kid.
How should I start learning programming? What language?
>>54568542
Java because the language won't fucking die and everyone uses it
You should continue learning python
>>54568542
Continue learning Python and consider learning R

Go with what this guy said, but any for most sufficiently big shops you'll have to learn their own internal clusterfuck of tooling and languages.

MQL

How do I learn Python?
Any good websites?
Are Youtube tutorials a meme?
>>54568565
Don't think so

depends how new you are to Programming in general and how you learn....
if its visual try CodeAcademy or Dataquest
If more academic try some of the Computer Science Classes on MITopen they have tons of classes that use Python in their labs (take a look at the AI one)
Try some of the Coursera or other MOOC Python classes and pick up some projects and run with it... Participate in the Python threads here
try some of the Hackerrank challenges
YouTube is great if you are having a particular problem
you should read Think Python: How to Think Like a Computer Scientist
Also I'll say it again learn R as well, its a way more expressive language and in terms of scripting for analysis probably my favorite
Continue to learn Python, it has great tools like SciPy.
