Are there any 1440p monitors around 200-250$?
I don't really care about refresh rate or response time, as long as they are not too particularly awful. Instead I'd prefer a good panel quality, and it should be between 24 or 27 inches.
Do you think this is too much to ask, considering the price range?
My intention is to buy a 1070 in the future, but it's quite an overkill for my current 1080p. So logically I can't spend too much. Suggestions are welcome.

yea. Even a decent Korean 1440p panel in the 27" range will be $300. At your price range you'd be better off getting a 144hz 1080p panel. I would never recommend a 24" 1440p panel as the screen is way too small for the resolution. I'm playing on a 32" 1440p panel myself. If you NEED a new panel now, get a good 1080p. Otherwise save up into the $450 range and get something really good.

minimum yea. Basic rule of thumb in my opinion is max 24" for 1080p, max 32" for 1440p, and 32" minimum for 4k.

that's a 25". While not terrible, it is still under what I'd consider the minimum for 1440p. Trust me when I say you don't want to cheap out on a monitor. If you buy cheap, you'll get cheap, and be stuck with it. My 32" 1440p has survived 4 different video cards. I bought it for $650 when it came out and it has lasted me quite a while.

not at all. Just too high a pixel density for such a small screen imo. Again, just my opinion. $300 for a 25" 1440p at only 60hz compared to say 1080p 24" 144hz for $250 seems like a bad deal.

Sure
For 1440p you want 27" if you're using Windows otherwise text will be too small. Also 1440p panels and above especially IPS/VA variants have poor quality control. It's very common to get a load of bad pixels and depending on the amount you'll be stuck with it.

I have the 2515h as well. I just think it offers a vastly nicer clarity over the usual 24inch 1080 screens. But I also sit around two foot from the screen. I don't really game enough to bother with anything more than just running this at 72hz.
What do you guys think about 2560x1080p monitors?

Thoughts on pg279q? 800$ for 1440p at 165hz, there's another from asus: 1440p at 144hz for 400$. Are the extra 21hz worth the extra 400?

Nothing wrong with 24 inch 1440p. The screen would need to be much denser for it to be a "problem".

Refresh rate is how many frames are put on the screen per second, or how smooth the picture is.
Response time is how long it takes to put something that happens on the screen. Things have to communicate first and just because your computer knows something happened doesn't mean it's ready to transmit that information to you via the monitor yet.
I bought these PB258Q for $265 each on sale.
Seemed like a pretty good deal at the time.
Been enjoying them immensely for a month or so now.
