Yes, but only in the same way that MacBook is another name for laptop.
Adaptive Sync is what FreeSync and GSync implement, but FreeSync is AMD's wrapper around the implementation of Adaptive Sync in the DisplayPort standard.
GSync on the other hand, is an entirely proprietary implementation of Adaptive Sync from nVidia (except for mobile GSync, which is just Adaptive Sync from DisplayPort).
