Reasons why you still use firefox?
Images are sometimes not shown due to bandwidth/network limitations. Refreshing the page usually helps.

What are /g/'s reason why they still use firefox? What extension or feature still keeps you around?

For me it's the extension "watch with mpv" which allows me to open video links with mpv. For some reason chrome doesn't allow addons like this so i'm stuck with firefox ;_;
>>
Yeah, the youtube-dl+mpv combo is unbeatable. I use Open With instead of Watch with MPV though, I like it better because of the context menu integration.

I use Chromium portable a lot too, for when Firefox decides to start stuttering while playing HTML5 full-screen videos.

There's some sites Firefox won't load properly, and some other Chromium won't.
>>
Built in bookmark tags.
Tree style tags.

Overall just everytime I use chrome I feel bump into things that look worse or are missing functionality, and then get told to install a million add ons to fix that.
Really don't know how you live without tags for bookmarks.
>>
>>54566906
Also I don't like Chromium's font rendering, so blurry.
>>
>>54566847
It does what I want it to do, and does it well.

>For some reason chrome doesn't allow addons like this
They use to but remove the functionality because they thought it could be used as a vector to get malware on the end user's computer.

Fucking sucks that they got rid of it.
>>
The main reason i use iceweasel is because i enjoy muh privacy.
Also:
Open with MPV is based.
>>
for me it's vimperator because the vimperator-like addon on chrome is a cheap imitation.
>>
Even with the same add-ons, I can't stand WebKit/Blink. It's dogshit.
>>
because I can get it to look not awful with a custom CSS
>>

This is one of them.
>>

this, when iceweasel dies icecat will be my choice. or epiphany.
>>
> godtier font render
> scalably of addons
> about:config (disabling websockets, WebRTC, changing network request limits per IP, user agent spoof, disable social bullshit)

> no goggle botnet

is there more?
>>
>>54566847
Because there's nothing better despite how shit it has became.
>>
>>54566847
no better browser exists at the moment. chromium based ones are all crap with shit video hardware decoding and generally clunky UIs.

Tree Style Tab

#1 best Firefox extension
I hate browsing without tree tabs now

I'm stuck with Firefox due to the addons I use.

They are, but it will be just like other Vertical Tab extensions. No Tree

I also recently discovered the magic of uMatrix - In conjunction with uBlock Origin, it replaces AdBlock+RequestPolicy+NoScript+SelfDestructingCookies.
I also use Add To Search Bar and Rikaisama.

Fast.
No botnet.
Great customization.

What 4? I count 2 (3 if you count Ubuntu Modifications).

Which 2?

For me it's Save Image in Folder

Seriously, I can't browse without this anymore.

Mostly Roomy Bookmars Toolbar and DownThemAll!

But a bit part is also the bookmark bar itself, the only worthwhile alternative, Chromium, has a totally unusable bookmarks toolbar so I'm kinda stuck with FF.
>>
>>54566847
1. I'm a SJW
2. Firefox is what I'm used to
3. Chrome is botnet and leaks memory like a bullet-riddled sieve

Don't ublock and noscript do the same thing?
>>
>>54568369
not even close
>>
>>54568392
You can filter javascript with ublock, though.
>>
>>54568369
Not really. uMatrix is more of a NoScript replacement if you want. These would not however replace uBlock/ABP's functionality.
>>

Where is this?

Asking for a friend
>>
Bretty good customization, but it's god damn slow & laggy. Currently checking Chrome Canary 64-bit - well it's definitely blazing fast in comparison to my FF installation with pretty much the same extension set.
>>

IceCat: HTTPS-Everywhere, Open With, uBlock Origin, uMatrix, VimFx. All through a VPN. Is there a better solution?
>>
I don't. It wants to be a crappier chrome these days. I use Pale Moon because like half my add-ons don't even work in FF anymore.
>>
>>54566847

being able to turn off all botnet in about:config

can't really do that in the google chrome settings
>>
>10 second start from SSD
Why people still using this shit?
>>
its unarguably better than other browsers
>>
>>54568800
Mostly this. It's not just the extensions, it's being able to change the behavior of the browser to your liking.

But in terms of extensions, downthemall, keefox and menu filter come to mind. I know there are other keepass extensions for chrome, but the ones I tried didn't integrate very well and required additional user input.3
>>
>>54567642
You can't fix it, it is caused by sandboxing.

not, really, no.

download youtube as mp4 userscript + mpv works better than that for me
>>
Still the best web browser. It has only gotten better in the last few years
>>
>>54569089
youtube-dl has compatibility for shiton of sites and a lot of useful functionality. It's got a lot of useful shit like controlling the max bit rate when you download files.

https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/supportedsites.html

With the "Open With" You can basically create your own hotkeys, and userscript.
>>
Chrome is unusable if you have more than 30 or so tabs open. Maybe it can be fixed with an addon but meh
>>
Vertical Tabs
Configurable UI using CSS
>>
>>54568456
I still use Firefox because nobody on /g/ will confirm whether I can import my NoScript whitelist in uMatrix.
>>
>>54566847
I don't know a whole lot about browsers. I've almost always used Firefox. I know there's a lot of different versions of it though.
I like the addons and themes I can get. Using the classic theme is great.
>>
Just reinstalled everything. How do you turn off the crap in Firefox? Hello, Pocket, Reader+, etc. The old methods don't work for Pocket at least.

I'm thinking of just switching to Chromium after using Firefox for 10+ years.
