That's what confuses me. Ubuntu 14.04 works with all of my stuff. But 16.04 doesn't.

So?, Windows 10 at launch was complete shit and still has major bugs with Drivers being removed by Windows Update, you can't expect such a complex software to be released bug-free without massive ammounts of feedback.
