No, there are no drawbacks as long as you have the hardware. It only takes time to perfect your hackintosh by creating your DSDT, SSDT and configuring the kexts to work properly and get those general bugs fixed. The more accurate hardware you have, the less you need to fuck around. Once you got it working, you have it working permanently unless Apple rewrites their drivers or some bullshit (which they never fucking do).

Get the xBytez torrent for the VMware image and follow the instructions, with VMWare Tools installed it's fast and smooth and DMG files can be drag and dropped right into the VM. The Yosemite image is dogshit but El Capitan works well.
The only real issue is the included win-install script has to be run every time you update VMWare.

I am struggling in a dilemma. I have a mid2010 MBP which served me really well until know. And I learned to love working with OSX in the process of it. But now I approach programming projects where its i7 2.66Ghz is not enough anymore, I also need more RAM. By now I wanted to get HDMI working as its not working completely. When i plug a HDMI Cable to the Port there is no reaction. I've been frustrated with the backlight control because I'm in 10.11.4 and no ways seems to work. My working ig-platform-id is 0x0D220003 which is a desktop version and the socket of screen cable is eDP. So i did a kext injetion with the eDP num 04 00 00 00 to replace 00 04 00 00. But no matter what I changed the value to, the tablet seemed the same, no blank screen, nor working backlight control.
ACPI method , Intelbacklight, Applebacklightinjection. Nothing works.

I've read this post and did as it told me to, but sadly it didn't work.
I renamed GFX0, Brightness Fix (Haswell/Broadwell) for dsdt, installed IntelBacklight.kext, drop OEM SSDTs.

Nothing works.
I did some study on Surface3, its GFX0 is defined in ssdt, mine in dsdt. Surface3 Device(GFX0) has many devices like DD01 DD02 DD03 etc. , but mine had nothing, not any of them.

Should I add compiled DSDT.aml to EFI partition on Unibeast ElCapitan USB, or it’s post installation thing? I have old laptop on Yosemite 10.10.1 with working and pached by me DSDT but i can’t compile it for my new one. I stuck with unexpected $end syntax error every time (DSTD file in attachment).

I have been experimenting with the 17" Lenovo Y700 and have managed to get to the point the point that the OSX put up a Zero with the slash in the middle. but i will post a screen capture for the event. my belief is that i missed something to get it to the point of installation. the progress is being made to the Skylake i'm just pushing along also.
so the story continues i have gotten as far as the line after missing bluetooth transport. i modified the plist to reflect parts pretaining to the skylake starter guide. i am attaching the Plist and screen capture to illustrate where i am with the build

You need edit clover before installation, not after.
For installation, use the clover config on boot.
1- Boot on USB with OS X
2- You're in clover
Profit. Now check and uncheck what you need.
In post installation, use the clover configurator to configure you plist.

As instructed I've included in the argument nv_disable=1 and it stuck at this screen i think i have and old file in the kext folder that caused the DSMOS has arrived side note: i just dont know what DSMOS means ........
What is /g/'s opinion on Ozmosis bootloader?
I've always run a hackintosh with Chameleon/Clover - but I heard Ozmosis is as close as you can get to native OS X. And that'd be great for my new build.
Drawbacks are poor documentation and a not straightforward first install with basically flashing your BIOS. But I wonder if there is anything besides this.

Already did that, the HDD is now detected. But it's important to NOT drop SSDT tables else it won't work.
I'll leave some general tips here until I get everything working, after which I'll write a proper guide.

Hello guys,
im brand new in the hackintosh scene. And already got some problems.
Last week I bought this Laptop: Asus Zenbook UX303UB-R4072T
(Intel Core i7 6500U, 12GB RAM (custom, self installed), 500GB SSD (custom, self installed), NVIDIA GeForce 940M)
Set everything in UEFI: Disabled fastboot, disabled VT-d, set graphics to 64m
But everytime i try to boot over unibeast/clover the el captain i get an kernel panic:

Can you help me? Please if you give me instructions make them newbie understandable ;) like where to type commands where to edit etc.. thank you so much

This just means you need to fix your USB drivers on your flashdrive inside the kext. Your USB ports om your computer keeps getting turned off.

There is no more kernel panic at booting. The progress bar under the Apple Logo appears.
But I got another problem the usb stick stops blinking at the same time as pogress bar appears. (the progress bar shows no progress)
I think it´s because it doesn´t natively support my USB 3 Controller (i got only three 3.0 Ports - no 2.0)
I found many tutorials how to inject kexts on post-installation but not how to inject them at pre-installation. May I ask you again for some help?
If only I had money to buy a real homOSeX machine, like MacBook Pro. I wouldn't need to take it up in the ass during hackintosh installation process.

Hi, my config is optimus.
I do all dsdt, ssdt patch when NVidia card is on in bios. System boot takes 15 seconds.
When I turn off NVidia in bios, boot takes 2 minutes. System random restart.
I think it relate to pci devices.
Do I have to repatch dsdt, ssdt each time I turn on/off NVidia in bios?

Thank you for your reply. This is the guide I followed.
All went well except for copying back the config.list for my model. Once I did this the OSX would not boot. Put back the original config.plist (what was originally the copy from your Probook Git) and the system was fine again but still no audio.

so sell your CPU and get something with integrated graphics. Unfortunately if you want OS X you have to base all of your hardware around its limited compatibility.
I run a 3770K + 980 build, worked perfectly installing with intel hd graphics then I could add pretty much any nividia gpu thanks to the web drivers

Restore all system kexts to vanilla (run the OS X installer). Install only the required FakePCIID kexts. Make sure you have the correct 5Ghz patch for your region. Boot without caches initially so the 5Ghz patch can be applied. Rebuild cache. Then test.
If not working, make sure the device is on. Some laptops have dedicated keys to toggle power. Test the hardware in Windows to make sure it is working.
If still not working, it could be an ACPI problem. Make sure you patched per laptop guide.

When I reboot into Windows, Wifi works on startup, so the hardware switch isn't enabled.
I've tried booting with only FakePCIID and FakePCIID Broadcom Wifi installed in /S/L/E but I get the same result - wifi is detected but it doesn't turn on.
What exactly is the 5 GHz patch? I didn't do any patching, so could this be the problem?
