Which is the best GNU/Linux distro?
I've been using Mint with cinnamon casually with my laptop some time, and I'd like to take a step forward
looks like bait, but I'll bite.
Go with Debian, only distro you will ever need.

Gentoo

I'll second this: Debian is a stable distro with a huge package library.

Debian is definitely the best

Kubuntu

Go Debian Sid with Gnome Shell or KDE.

Read a book on Linux
It doesn't matter what version you have, you can configure it to do anything you want. Installing something else is pointless
Google 'How Linux Works'
Google 'Unix Programming Environment'
Read those and come back good luck

I recommend trying Arch, and also Fedora.
