Okay /g/ here's a question. Let's say you have a laptop with non-removable battery. Is it better for the battery to charge it, remove the cable, discharge it, then charge again? Or is it better to just keep it on the cable at all times?

Its better to just not get a mac.
>>54557481
NiCL battery: full charge, unplug, cycle all the way through, and repeat.
Lithium ion: doesn't matter as much
Thanks for the Windows license, bro
>>54557481
Just simply not use the battery when you have the cable.

Most are lipo 18650s just so you know, OP
I figure best to keep it plugged in so you don't go through charge cycles as quickly. This is assuming the computer draws directly from AC when the battery is charged.

Assuming it's a Lithium ion battery, it's not really going to give a fuck what you do.
>>54557509
Sure, feel free to use it mate.
>>54557493
I have an asus desu.

What am I looking at here?
>>54557519
>>54557534
the key for maximum battery utility is to absolutely lower your cycle count
using the based thinkpad battery EC i can set charge thresholds so the battery will only charge when below 45 and keep charging to the full 100% ready for your big day ahead
>>54557540
So even when connected, your battery will not charge until it gets to 45% when it will start to charge?
>>54557557
yes. most laptops cant do this and just start charging no matter what. often people will go ape shit when windows does the right thing and stop you charging completely to 100% and stops you at like 98%
They also freak out when windows tries to do a full discharge.
When researching this is heard a lot of hooey about it doesnt matter what you do with a li-Ion battery and that it will manage itself. this is simply not true.
>>54557580
This. Phones too, while more robust than the past I've had batteries completely fuck out at me with 6 hour batteries lives after rapid charge, discharge over long periods (once by normal use, once as an experiment).
