Fucking oath this.
Ive been watching openMW dev for about a year now and six months ago it was already more impressive than vanilla morrowind, their releases since then have been nothing short of astonishing, really.
This could completely revitalize the game in terms of graphical and gameplay quality if the modding community got behind it, which i hope they do, there's so much support for different systems in this and it could seriously become a cult favorite in under a year.
Much love.

Rollercoaster tycoon was written on top of transport tycoon deluxe engine. Originally Chris wanted to make a sequel to transport tycoon deluxe but he got really obsessed with rollercoasters and the entire project changed.
>>
>>54549804
>The development of OpenTTD was driven by the desire to extend the abilities of Transport Tycoon Deluxe to support user-made additions to the graphics and gameplay. Also, users wanted to play the game on more modern operating systems and alternative computer architectures which Transport Tycoon Deluxe did not support, being released in 1994 for DOS and programmed in assembly language.

there's a thing called Arbortext Advanced Print Publisher but it seems like the main proprietary alternatives are either office suites (which as you said dont really count) or things like Adobe InDesign which focus more on the design aspect than the typesetting

Blender lacks or falls short in:
Industries populated
Company support for single users
Supports reactivities for single users
DVD training
DXF
IGES

rtorrent doesn't even have a GUI.

>>
>>54552629
rarely does this work on an OS 10+ years newer than the game or CD, unless the DRM is cracked, since it depends on legacy driver behavior and makes assumptions about the drive hardware

for example,DRM tech used in the 1-4x CD drive (IDE) heyday will see SATA CD/DVD drives as illegitimate, even if the disk itself is brand new out of the box.

GIMP is equivalent to PS for general usage. Unless you're getting paid for it, there's no need to use proprietary software. The only people that claim otherwise are using baseless arguments like "PS does this like this, why doesn't GIMP emulate PS exactly?". Amazing, some of these old games, augmented with new community stuff are so good.

I just love tinkering around in these sand box type games setting up my economy etc.

The closest thing I had to that in modern games was the anno series but they fucked that up with the latest installment

Had that with Settlers 2 - The Next Generation. Some shitty securom rootkit that required the image to be cracked - and that solution was highly dependent on the system you intended it to run on.
It wouldn't even run from disk on a machine where there was a virtual drive.
As much as I love this game I hate that I can't play it.

while back there was a bug in i believe 7zip where large compressions failed but never told you, so someone lost 200+gb worth of isos to it.

its things like this that make me shy away from open source for things that can't be fixed if they fuck up.

blender is VERY prone to crashing, even when people who make their livelihood demo the program it crashes on them.

and this is just from a real world use perspective, getting a job because you know blender isn't fucking happening, but 3dsmax or maya it would, however that said i prefer modo, if only because the dev team isn't condescending douches (the whole we make blender for blender users when asked if they would make the program more intuitive)

What's wrong with CLI tools? You don't actually need to open a terminal to use them, from what I can tell from their website, it sounds doable through a bash script:

>Take a screenshot or a screencast, have it uploaded and get the URL copied to your clipboard with a single hotkey.

For instance, every time I press ctrl+shift+F12, a bash script runs and I get a random password generated and sent to my clipboard, eg.:

/17<Q&1jcc}sz~txofz)+]~dR"a
`p]zCjn[QzP?lp
~4e*vuzVEXTA2N"IsE!Zr'%hyJ|;14r

I have to ask, compared to minecraft is anything missing?
How does the game run? Is it shit like minecraft?
How are the mods? There are a few tools I required in minecraft to enjoy playing it
1) arrow bombs, makes terraforming en mass believable looking
2) a way to rapidly grow trees/make a massive fuck off big tree to make a home out of

If you use KDE, you can use the second part for the clipboard:

# 1. Generate a password with apg
string=$(/usr/bin/apg -a 1 -n 1 -m 8 -x 36 -M sncl -c cl_seed)

# 2. Send password to Klipper
dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=org.kde.klipper \
/klipper org.kde.klipper.klipper.setClipboardContents \
string:"$string"

Just gotta make sure Klipper is open, just put it in autostart.

Shadowplay is hardware implemented, so software like OBS can never compete.
That being said, OBS is still low impact. You just need to tinker a lot with the settings to get it right

Handy, but of course nowhere near as amazing as ShareX, which had annotations, video, and of course supports any imagehoster in existence

um... i have a 6 going on 7 year old phenom 2 955 black, and i have had... 3 gpus with it, one was a hold over from my old computer, a 6800 ultra, then a 5770 1gb and then a 280X, first card was top end when i got it, but due to clerical errors i got it and the rest of the parts cheaper then if i built that pc myself

the second gpu was 150$ when i got it, and lasted me i think 4-5 years, and my new one has been going strong for little under 2 years and will likely make it into my next computer.

money i saved building shit myself, well over a thousand considering computers prebuilt today for under 1000 are still weaker then what i have.

money i saved on software, well... games alone i have saved nearly 10 grand so far, other software i have hold overs from college still so no need to upgrade most of it.
