If you actually have working DDR1 memory you should sell it right now. It's getting up in price because nobody's making it anymore but businesses still need it badly. But we're on the verge of getting over the hump and it becoming worthless after everyone upgrades. DDR2 will go through the same shit.
Business I worked with about 5-6 years ago dumped all their heavy ass DDR1 workstations on me. Took over 12 of them home, SUV was turning funny due to the weight in the back. Owner was semi-intelligent and didn't want him to see me parting them out on site or else he might have said no, and I was also doing them a favor by taking them to an electronics recycling center. They were all 1 or 2 GB modules and I sold them for $20 each at the time, made well over $400

If you are this dedicated, call up local businesses and offer it to them as a service. Look for the owner or manager though because normal employees will fear giving away stuff they needed then getting in trouble later. Got 6 laserjet printers from working at mom and pop computer stores over the years because when I was onsite it was

They always have full color carts and in a few cases they even had half black left. Half the rooms in my house have these donated printers and I even started giving them away to my friends. Pic related was the best one.
