>cannot connect my laptop to internet at my dorm (neither WiFi nor lan)
>no problem with a lan cable at my uni
>no problem when I use my phone as a hotspot
OK, I guess the sysadmin caught me streaming japanese porn and banned my MAC address or something.
>boot from a liveUSB
>successful ping
Can someone explain me this magic?
I'm pretty sure you can change your MAC address

How?

Why would someone block your MAC address tho? If you're paying for the connection, then it's none of their business what you browse. Also, isn't it illegal for ISP to watch over you? At least in EU it is

Just look it up, mac spoofing is something devices can magically do. Even my android phone can change it

MAC address ban was just my guess. I was able to access the internet booting from a live USB.
Maybe I should just do a fresh install, but I spend too much time getting alsa working, tuning the trackpoint, middle button scrolling and so on to do it without regret.

He just realised you were a nogicuckroach. Shoo shoo.

delete everything in network manager and start again. do ifconfig down and up a few times as well.
should have posted kotoko instead.
Are you using Windows? Just give yourself a new MACHKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\
find your nic and change the NetworkAddress property (or add it if it doesn't exist)

This is what /g/ has become.

Network is not in my main skillset, how can I troubleshoot and rewrite it?
>>54542390
Did you even read?
I guessed my mac address was somehow banned so I tried a live USB which prove my assumption false.
You were so eager to meme that you forgot to think.

Try this if you use windows 7 or abovenetsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
sudo apt-get install macchanger
Then do "sudo macchanger -r eth0" for wired connections or "sudo macchanger -r wlan0" for wireless.

Thank you, however I am using arch.
I'll keep your command aside in case I need to try to troubleshoot a windows machine. >>54543953
Thanks. But if I was able to connect via a live USB, I guess it is not a problem due to the Mac address
