So I wanna get a monitor that 'converts' anything I watch into smooth 120fps and above. I know on my 120hz TV there's this smooth motion button.
Like I need a 4k monitor 144hz that upscale everything to 4k and make all the videos I watch 'butter' smooth wether it'd be from YouTube or animu or anything basically..
What brand and model is recommendation for my requirements?
>>
>>54529796
You're referring to frame interpolation.

This is not possible without a processor calculating what comes between two frames.

In the case of a television, this means there is a slight lag in the video vs audio, which is not very noticeable from so far away on such an imprecise screen.

You can do things like this with specific programs.

Look up SVP (Smooth Video Project).

It works quite well for what you're doing, but will only apply to movies/shows.
>>
>>54529796
That kind of interpolation is done by a computer with specialized chips inside the tv. I'm not aware of any desktop monitors that do it on their own. You can get a long HDMI cable and connect your pc to your tv, and be sure to set overscan correctly.

I find that stuff jarring and prefer to look at the real frames longer.

got it to work by saving everything as query, and then getting their values from a third query.

does the job :)

But now I have another problem, this is the last one!

the table TRANS – it includes 900 records and only 4 columns from the table REG. Try to produce a table like TRANS_YER:
- it has 4 columns:
= DEG_CODE: scientific codes (only these – 101, 102, 103 and 104)
= Y2007: the year 2007
= Y2006: the year 2006
= Y2007: the year 2005
- and it has 4 rows:
= 101
= 102
= 103
= 104
Xi, Yi and Zi, i = 1,2,3,4, have the following meaning:
X1 = the number of persons, received the scientific degree with a code 101 in the year 2007;
Y1 = the number of persons, received the scientific degree with a code 101 in the year 2006;
Z1 = the number of persons, received the scientific degree with a code 101 in the year 2005;
. . .
X4 = the number of persons, received the scientific degree with a code 104 in the year 2007;
Y4 = the number of persons, received the scientific degree with a code 104 in the year 2006;
Z4 = the number of persons, received the scientific degree with a code 104 in the year 2005;

with one query I get the first column for the TRANS_YER, but can't insert it with:

UPDATE TRANS_YER, TASK7_Y2005
SET TRANS_YER.Y2005 = [TASK7_Y2005].[COUNT]
WHERE (((TRANS_YER.DEG_CODE)=[TASK7_Y2005].[CODE]));

I'd like to hear from Google Drive users. In particular, those who've tried to back up their Calibre (ebook) database into their Drive storage.

I saw a lot of complaints and warnings from 2012-2013 talking about how Google Drive breaks Calibre libraries by automatically renaming files that have numeric strings in parentheses at the end of the filename. I don't see any of those complaints from the last two years, though, and my own preliminary tests indicate that it doesn't happen anymore.

Can someone confirm or deny that automatic renaming of files with numeric strings within parentheses at the end of filenames doesn't happen anymore?

Whats a good torrent client to use. I usd to have utorrent but I've heard bad stuff on it.
>>

That depends on your SMS application's capabilities, of course.
>>

I use Deluge on Windows. Used to use uTorrent, and then ads everywhere.

uTorrent 2.3 is still fine, IIRC.
>>
>>54530299

uTorrent 2.2.1, a legacy version, is generally considered acceptable.

I'm assuming you're on Windows? If so, then, well, nothing. I've had so much goddamn trouble with shoddy ports of Linux clients. Transmission, Qbittorrent, Deluge, all had way more issues than they ever should.

If you're on Mac or Linux, though, the world's your oyster. You can pretty much take your pick, they're all good.

I have mobile broadband through virgin mobile, with a 6 year old 3g modem. Ive had it since 2008, and I have unlimited usage each month, which is grandfathered (they don't offer it anymore). It's the best internet available where I live, so I don't want to give it up.

But my connection has gone to shit in the past six months, and in the past few weeks its barely even connecting. Rain does cause it to go slower, and it's been rainy lately, but its never been this bad before.

Do I need a new modem? Is that likely even my problem?

Or is virgin just being a pile of rotten douchebags because I have unlimited for 40 bucks a month?

I'm building my first pc. I haven't decided on a gpu and will get one later in Aug/Sept when the dust settles for Polaris/Pascal. I want to get started on the build now and will just use the igpu for the meantime. Here are my questions:
1. Is this a good build?
2. Will I see any comparability issues with either Polaris or Pascal?
3. Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy this is the next few weeks and have it already built in anticipation for the new gpus?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZZYmf7

Why should I wait though? I don't see any of those parts becoming cheaper in the next 8 weeks, and it would be really fun for me to start my build and begin getting the software I need. If you can give me a good reason to I will wait, but I can't see one right now.

I'm almost %100 going to be getting a new gpu though. I'm going to be using it with a vive and the new gpus will see much higher vr performance compared to current ones.

And that's how my story ends. My PC finally became so overburden that I could no longer rely on it to run without over heating. I would never find the password for the file my friend gave to me so many years ago. The contents that was so important that my friend gave me will never be known to me, because as far as the rest of the world is concerned, truecrypt is unbreakable until quantum computers become mainstream apparently.

I tried a bunch of stuff, (power management settings, remove and clean install of drivers, make sure the physical computer is clean and free of dust) that didn't work and ended up just reinstalling windows. that didn't fix it either. I couldn't find a chipset driver for my motherboard only the audio, lan, usb3.0 and sata drivers(I even tried amd's auto detect utility and it said it didn't find any supported hardware.)

I was on the /g/ wiki looking at the laptop buying guide. It said not to buy system 76, as they are clover & sager rebrands.

When I looked at clover and sager laptops though, they are all gay-man laptops with discreet graphics, which is more than I need; and they are also all quite expensive.

What is actually wrong with buying a system76 laptop with a 6th gen intel CPU, for about 700 dollars, compared to the over 1k starting price point for both clover and sager?
Plus I don't need discreet graphics to begin with, just the latest intel HD graphics such as HD 530 should meet my needs as my priority is not gaming, but good performance as a daily driver.
>>
>>54533408
If that was the only reason given then you don't actually have a good reason not to buy system76 imo.

>And what would I need to do to make it run on wangblows?
Write it using libraries and frameworks that work with wangblows. If you want it to be cross-platform you can use anything from SDL and some raw OpenGL, to a bloated but easier for noobs package like Unity.

I assume you're going for 2D, probably with some glow effect to make it look nice. Any of the above would be quite suitable for that. If you prefer to get down and dirty with updating lists of projectiles and velocities one by one and then drawing them to the screen, SDL+OpenGL or DirectX are the way to go. I'd suggest SDL+OpenGL since you don't need the extra 3D performance of DirectX, and that would make it cross-platform. Graphically you'd mostly be rotating PNGs and drawing them.

Of course, high level frameworks can handle this stuff well too, and have you writing less low level logic.

>Is there any terminal "emulator" ?
The one cmd.exe and any console programs run in is a basic one, though not xterm/VT100 compatible at all. There's MinGW and Cygwin which come with varieties of xterm or mintty compiled for Windows. Then there's PuTTY/KiTTY, connected to an ssh server on localhost -- I recommend Bitvise if you go this route; it's not FOSS but it does a good job of translating Windows console stuff and making it run in a VT100 style terminal.

For compiling code, plain old cmd.exe should be plenty. Mostly you'll be typing "make" and reading the errors it prints.

Or screw the above and use an IDE.

>And would C++ be a good language for this? I consider myself an okay C++ programmer
C++ is a fine language. It has more gotchas and opportunities to screw yourself over than managed languages, but it will perform better in games. Then again, a game with pretty simple graphics will run fine even in Java.

>Does it really matter if all im going to be doing is storing music on it?
Not really. Writing is where you'll see the most difference between nice ones and cheap ones. Nice ones will write far faster and last more write cycles. Read speed varies too, but the cheap ones aren't as bad.

For music you don't care much about either. A slow write speed might make it take ages to write all your music to it, but you only need to do it once. Then it's pretty much all reads from there out. And you don't have any real read speed requirements since even slow as shit ones will be more than able to keep up.

So long as you don't get the sort of 64 GB card that's actually a 2 GB one that lies about its capacity, or a DOA one, you should be fine.

Yeah, you can get the programs the card OEMs use to burn and configure the firmware on their cards off some Chinese and Russian blogs. The programs are all in Chinese, but apart from the language barrier it's just an issue of setting the capacity. You'd need a PCI/PCIe card reader as well since USB ones just present a block device and not the full range of SD/MMC commands.

I have a laptop that CAN run games, but it really shouldn't, the temps get to like 80 degrees C when I play CSGO and TF2. I never keep it launched for too long.

I tried cleaning out the fan, didn't help much. I heard that replacing the thermal paste can drastically improve this. How long have you had the laptop? It might be a legitimate reason for a RMA if it's still under warranty. And doing it yourself (or even paying someone to do it) would almost certainly void your warranty.

You could probably go to some computer repair place and just ask the guy to put some newer and better thermal paste on there, probably will charge 20-30 bucks, and even then only because its more of a pain in the ass to take apart a laptop than a desktop.

I would suggest ordering some artic silver 5 paste (its 5 dollars on ebay free shipping) and doing it yourself, however, I've only done this on desktops and not on a laptop before so I don't know how hard it is.

well first off, its not as simple as just "linux" vs windows 8.1. It largely depends on what distro you use. If you tried to install and use gentoo vs windows 8.1, obviously you'd be left with a bad taste in your mouth.

For a beginner, I would recommend Ubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, L/Xubuntu, or Linux Mint/LMDE.

Linux distros are

Functions to write text at row and column coords on the screen. It's pretty much your classic "move cursor here, write this text" stuff. You can clear lines or the whole screen, or simply overwrite unwanted text with spaces.

>would it be a good framework to write a game on?
It's not designed specifically for games, but there aren't terminal game frameworks that I know of. It does everything you could reasonably want for text graphics though. It also handles setting foreground and background colors.

Or if you're looking for an "anti-aliased" computer generated ASCII art look on a really large terminal, you can render to a framebuffer and feel it through aalib. If you want to see what it looks like, VLC has a "color ASCII art" output you can select on the video tab of its preferences -- it'll look like that but you can make it output a larger frame.

Depending on the phone and root method, it may or may not leave traces. For instance, if you unlock the bootloader on an HTC so you can install CWM recovery so you don't brick it, it'll set a bit permanently, which cannot be reset even if you re-lock the bootloader.

Also, factory reset does not reset changes you might have made to the /system partition. For that you'd need a nandroid backup, which is part of why people usually suggest installing CWM recovery if possible.

Phone OEMs will generally be dicks and try to get out of warranties when they can. Rooted your phone and then the screen failed due to an obvious manufacturing defect? Denied, rooting it voided the warranty.
>>
>>54534221
While they generally *can*, they won't unless you're a major nuisance and drive away other customers. If they kicked out random customers for no good reason, their ratings would plummet and nobody would stay there.

Get the Media Creation Tool. It'll give you an option of making a USB, DVD, ISO, or installing it directly.

If you're going to upgrade to claim the upgrade license and then do a clean install, make a USB or DVD and run setup.exe from it to do the upgrade. That will avoid downloading it twice.
>>
>>54534597
Thank you for the great explanation. So if I did an Android backup and then factory reseted it would it leave any traces of the root ? And are phone OME that picky to go and inspect everything on the phone for rooting traces ? I really wanted to root manly to be able to do more things on my phone as automation and others things for projects and also to help me improve my daily life so I think it's worth with the risk. Also I'm using a Asus ZenFone 2 if it's relevant. Thank you once more

>i have heard the saying "if you have to ask, its not for you", and i feel this may be true

what bullshit, if you don't ask, how will you know?
I used Ubuntu for 3 months straight on a daily basis once, if you really don't know shit about linux, star with ubuntu as it will hold your hand.

>Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, Mac OSX, & BSD. Instead of simulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator, Wine translates Windows API calls into POSIX calls on-the-fly, eliminating the performance and memory penalties of other methods and allowing you to cleanly integrate Windows applications into your desktop.

Looks like I learned something too, wine isn't an emulator, it actually lets you run windows program on the OS natively, in a sense.

Lastly, if you are currently on windows 8/.1 I would just stay on it. I'm on windows 8.1 as I write this to you, and I'm sticking with it simply because I have no need to upgrade. You can configure windows 8.1 to the point where much of the nuisances are gone, however, I would not under any circumstances recommend or use Windows 10.

If you want some real advice, stay on Windows 8.1, practice using Linux on a virtual machine, then when you move on from whatever computer you are currently using switch to Linux, as most new out of box PCs already have Windows 10 as the default, it is difficult to buy Windows 8/7 PCs in retailers now.

What would cause a fixed width font,not be fixed width when it renders?
>>
>>54534575
Your code is indeed O(n), but does not produce a correct solution. Looks like you're only adding to the last element and checking that sum.

Consider if input is (2, 3, 4) and match is 5. Your loop will test 2+4 and 3+4, find that neither equal 5, and never find 2+3.

>>
>>54534769
>So if I did an Android backup and then factory reseted it would it leave any traces of the root ?
Doing the backup needs CWM recovery, which often requires unlocking the bootloader. That might leave traces. If you install CWM and make a backup before rooting, you can restore that backup to be back on unrooted stock ROM, which you can then factory reset to have what you had when you bought it. --However CWM will still be in the recovery partition (you may be able to restore the original recovery), and the bootloader will be unlocked (you may be able to lock it, but it might leave an indicator).

>And are phone OME that picky to go and inspect everything on the phone for rooting traces ?
Very often no. Often troubleshooting and inspection consists of "It doesn't power on... the water damage indicator is still spotted and not pink... no obvious signs of physical abuse... yup, ship him a new unit". Of course if they do spot something, they'll deny your claim.

If you've rendered characters that aren't in the font, forcing the system to use another font for those characters. Many fixed width fonts don't include Japanese for instance, so one character of that might offset the rest of the line by a few pixels.

>I have the Windows 7 Pro license key on the side of the mini-PC. Can I use that to Install Windows 10?
Yes. According to the upgrade table, you get Windows 10 Pro.

>Also, how do I select 32-bit for this?
Select it in the Media Creation Tool. Download the version of the tool that corresponds to the Windows you're running now. Both versions can create install media for both 32 and 64 bit. Upgrading will only work for the same bits as you have now, but the key may be good for both, I haven't tried.

>but whats a virtual machine
It basically does for PCs what emulators do for game consoles. You can run another OS from inside your OS. Note that when installing the OS, the installer will see a blank disk of whatever size you created for it -- so don't worry, it's fine to tell the installer to partition, format and install on the entire disk. That disk resides inside a file within your Windows partition. The OS inside the VM can't see or touch anything outside that unless you set up shared folders specifically to allow it.

The program you want is VirtualBox. You'll also need the same Ubuntu iso file you'd use to install on a physical computer.

You will need to install VirtualBox Guest Additions inside the VM after you install the OS. This has drivers for things like VirtualBox's special sort of emulated mouse, shared folders, graphics acceleration, etc. Your VM will still run fine without it, but mouse movement will feel a bit crusty.

GPU performance inside the VM will be significantly worse than native, because GPUs are tough to virtualize well. The CPU will be so close to native performance you won't notice a difference though, especially if you enable Intel VT-x or AMD-V virtualization extensions in your BIOS.

Latest versions connect to a chinese server, that its why it takes a lot to load every time you open it, just like quickpic with all the 4.5.2+ versions and other programs like RAR.

if its just long loading i dont mind, i didnt even notice
but how long has this been going on, i need to know to gauge the chances of them removing this

Tripcode

Is it considered bad practice or an error to use the same tag names in XML for different things? For example here the <name> tag is used for different things:

<sellout>
<name>moot</name>
</sellout>
<company>
<name>jewgle</name>
</company>

boom i think i got it

(assuming based on supplied data, arrays will be presorted. and in a proper environment i assume "countpairs" should not take the task of "sortandcountpairs")

if not i honestly don't deserve this job and i accept that

(the other half was theories on load balancing and other "theoretical" hooplah. that part was easy i deal with that all the time)

that being said, i was skilled enough get this far, and if this is the only thing that failed me i know what part of my skillset is lacking.

what are some resources on this magical bullshit?
i think i've got "Introduction To Algorithms" laying around somewhere, i should probably read it.

i've know like half the details on, n , n^2 , log(n)

I moved it onto a 3.5" mount beneath the HDD. Still the same temps. Also the temperature looks like this. So the sensor's totally faulty.

Samsung 850 EVO is the best you can get right now talking about SATA SSDs.

Sandisk Ultra ii and Crucial BX100 are good options.

Sandisk SSD plus if you are on a budget.

ADATA SP550 if you really cant afford a decent SSD.

Avoid Kingston and PNY SSDs.

Depends on your budget honestly, if you have money just get a 850 EVO.

Samsung is the definitive winner
Samsung 850 256g is like 60-80 bucks now
