For all purposes the better replacement is GNU Icecat. Less bloated, is customized to protect privacy and is "user friendly".
But the better choice is dwb, for power users only but worth it.
Of course, there is "Hacked Links" (ELinks + Links2), which is a command line browser with javascript functionality and framebuffer pictures support, for when all else fails.
