I'm trying to teach myself ML. I took one AI class and it was very interesting. Now I'm trying to work with tensorflow to learn to make some cool stuff.
I ran across this book and it's been super helpful as someone who is a CS major but never been introduced to NN outside of knowing kind of what it is: neuralnetworksanddeeplearning.com/

So far the explanations and exercises are very good.
>>
AI is a fucking meme and you're all bandwagoning retards
>>
>>54523418
Just because it's popular it must be bad, eh?
>>
>>54523428
It's funny AI goes in waves. Something new will pop up and AI will get super funding. Then nothing super crazy that businesses/defense companies wanted actually happens. Granted a lot of research gets done. So then it goes back dormant to just uni professors researching. Then another trend will hit this time it's NN and "deep learning", now it's in the front seat for a bit.

>and thus the cycle continues
>>
>>54523451
Has it ever occured to you that people in this thread are trying to be the uni profs who keep with it after the winter comes back?
>>
>>54523468
no they're bandwagoning retards who think it's cool because of the google go AI and will lose interest quickly after they realize they aren't going to create sci-fi AIs that act like people
>>
>>54523468
I do know that. I plan on being one of those guys too. Doubt I'll be a professor but it'll always be a hobby/passion of mine. I'm telling the "AI IS A MEME" people that it's been around and studied for quite some time now and not going anywhere even after the super cool hip tech funding dries up.
>>
>>54523490
At least two of the people here aren't like that. Why do you have so much animosity for this field of study anyway? Are you opposed to the idea of people learning things if it isn't for the reasons that you want them to?
>>
>>54523570
>Why do you have so much animosity for this field of study anyway?
I don't, I work with AI, so I have animosity towards the people who jump on the hype bandwagon and believe all the sci-fi bullshit and popular public perception that AI is about making imitation humans
>>

What's up with the OpenAI intiative?

I didn't hear anything from them besides inception
