It's a great environment and I would use it on my gaming distro if it wasn't so ridiculously over-the-top buggy.

Everything from the mandatory compositor to the all the possible ways to softlock it just exist to fuck over your computer at semi-random intervals.

You've been able to do that forever. Although personally, I don't really see what the point is - having them at the left makes mousing more efficient.

You are actually wrong, because you literally can't move close etc. buttons anymore. It was possible then they disallowed any changes at all. It was possible at some point and it is not possible now, I even tried it out in VM when 16.04 was released.
I don't see a point either because even when you move controls to the right they move back to the left when maximized.
And the actual point is that every single fucking OS works like this, save for mac. I don't give a flying shit about muh efficiency, I'm used to close being on the right side, so is almost every other PC user.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Is there a difference with mint? i'm looking for a good "gaming" distro. i'm currently running manjaro. Is very good, but i think it's time for something more stable.
>>
>>54519987
>Mint
Mint is a piece of shit for kids. It's even worse than Ubuntu. Stay the fuck away from it.

The Mint maintainers barely know how to run a distro. They barely even know how to run a website. Fork of a fork of a fork. They do no work except screwing it up.

Anyway, I only use Ubuntu on my gaming distro because game developers think Linux = Ubuntu. Given the “works on my machine, ship it” attitude among game developers, it's probably a good idea to be using the same system they'll most likely be targeting during their development.

I can remove the multiverse and restricted repo and that will leave me only with free software, right? Are the ubuntu maintainers likely to install botnets in their system updates? As far as i know ubuntu 16.04 is botnet-free.

What kinda of cunt thinks that using *ubuntu is for retards. I mean I make security application that test network boundaries with network attacks that have not be seen on the FOSS & security market yet. I am constantly working with fortune 500 companies in both IT network engineering and Software development projects, and I use xubuntu everyday.

I use *ubuntu because it is faster to fix, find, and install shit with. This is coming from someone that is able to write 1000 line bash/python scripts without internet or man file access.

I know of only 3 people who use debian or linux for their work. That is because they brought programming software and are stuck to what they like. Using ubuntu means shit. If it can do the work you're paid to do then fucking use it.
