best 1440p phones with gyro?
I need a phone for movie viewing with Google Cardboard compatible headset.
Pic related currently am using BoboVR Z4 and Redmi 2 720p.
inb4 muh screendoor. need decent diffuser or 8k screen to fix that.

You know what I got the day before? A 1440p 6" screen from china for 240$. Don't get a phone, order a topfoison screen from Alibaba.
Samsung phones are currently the unrivaled king of mobile VR because of GearVR. All other phones with cardboard clones simply suck in comparison.
That being said if you really don't want a samsung phone, get LG G3 or G4 or G5. They have 1440p RGB subpixel layout, making them effectively higher resolution than pretty much all other 1440p phones that usually have pentile subpixel layout. I have a G4 and screendoor is pretty much inexistent.

GearVR has additional sensors much more accurate than what is in phones, and it includes software with more low-level changes to the phone allowing features like low persistence and asynchronous timewarp that greatly increases the smoothness and accuracy of tracking. Meanwhile cardboard clones including VR Box has nothing like this, it is literally just a phone holder with lenses. Maybe this will be acceptable in next gen phones with better accelerometers built for VR, and VR specific changes to the next android version, but until then it's in a completely different league.
