mpv can stream almost anything
mpv doesn't have a bloated UI and much more features than VLC. By default it uses less resources but can use as much resources as you throw at it from custom shaders and scaling.

It plays most everything out of the box, what's not to like? It could use a few more features and a better library layout, but by no means is it shit. Stable, runs fast, does what I want it to. Also the icon gets a Santa hat at Christmas, if that sweetens the deal.
I use CCCP for both audio and video, and it just plays anything. Also, it is much faster to open and load content than VLC.

I use MPV on Kali and mpc-hc on windows, they both work much better and I have none of the problems that I did with VLC.
I get screen tearing for every video. It's like in the middle of the screen. It has this large line that flickers and shows double.
Does not happen on mpv

I haven't had any of the issues with vid playback thats been posted here. only time I had screen tearing I also had it with any other player. switched to ubuntu with unity and all screan tearing is history.
