It's the same story with osx. I own a mac mini at work for development of mobile applications for iOS. It's not a very powerful machine so I can really see performance differences on it. OSX is getting slower with each release. Mavericks was the last tolerable one. Yosemite and El Captain are barely usable. I have to wait few seconds for file manager to show up, it's ridiculous. Linux is getting faster with every release, and so does Windows. You can make all the fun you want from Windows but each release since Vista is an improvement in regards of performance. Out of all the major systems, OSX is the only one that is getting slower and slower. Planned obsolescence at it's best. I also have the same mac mini at home running ubuntu, it flies compared to osx one.

That is subjective, and even for a single individual that opinion will change based on income. I'm talking about actual design problems, preferably with how you use their product every day. I can think of a few, let me share them with you.
-The HFS+ filesystem is archaic and outdated. The filesystem enforces UTF-8 with NFD normalization, and flips its lid whenever an ISO-8859-0 filename appears. This problem occurs frequently when working with special characters because this is how Windows encodes filenames by default. In fact, the only thing I like about HFS+ is extents. I wish Apple would contribute to development of the HAMMER2 filesystem or something. Linus Torvalds makes a number of excellent points on the matter of HFS+ (and it's general awfulness) as well:

-As a network auditor, I don't like that they stopped shipping their NICs with the ability to pass FCS tailers to libpcap. These include both WiFi interfaces and thunderbolt-to-ethernet adapters. I also tested it on a Macbook Pro circa 2009 which still had the ethernet interface included on the motherboard. Pretty much every other UNIX-like OS can enable this shit.
-The handling of audio on OSX is pretty shit. Generally, CoreAudio as an implementation is fairly good, but then Apple shits all over the user experience by not allowing you to adjust certain apps' volumes, forcibly audio-ducking FaceTime, and there is also this issue for streaming where you basically have to install third party application so that you and your listeners can hear the computer's audio output. This isn't really something a third party application should have to do.
