I've only played around with this framework for a few days.

Programming languages are for writing logic, not building fucking UI. Just come up with some xml shit like xaml, html or android's views.
Less painful and forces you to separate presentation from logic.

I wouldn't know, I've only used to make a simple program that allows to interact with some hardware we have at work over a serial port (I could keep using Python for that, but less techincally-inclined people were supposed to use it as well).
It wasn't anything fancy and I'm reasonably sure it could be made in a more efficient manner but for the most part gtk3 did its job and stayed out of my way

Intentional Red Hat/Gnome strategy, same as with systemd. The goal is to reduce all Linux distros to Red Hat Linux "flavour" status and make all applications be written exclusively for Gnome interface. These guys are worse for open source community than Steve Jobs and Gates combined.

It's supposed to be a cross-platform toolkit but is solely developed for the needs of Gnome.
If Gnome devs don't need or want a feature, it will be broken in a minor version without an announcement.
The real question is, if GTK is so bad, why aren't more people using Qt?
