same here just happened last night. Just update the telemetry uptions with the scripts available out there to block some of the spying. Looking forward to test this out with wireshark soon to see if indeed MS still manages to send data without my input.

It happened because you didn't do anything to stop it.
Maybe don't ignore every prompt you get next time.
>>
>taking an image of the screen

Absolutely no excuse
>>
>>54488016
It spawns a prompt with little time to say NO. In my case turned on computer went to see NBA finals in the living room.... half-hour past and I was surprised with the same percentage screen OP has. Not even a prompt to ask if you backed up your files in case the install goes completely bad.

I agree this is how malware works. Now i feel like just wiping windows off my computer.
>>
>>54488051
Supposedly you can return to the previous version within a month.

I don't know for sure if that works since I have not touched win10

you can return to the previous version immediately, and nothing is affected

you retain the windows 10 license you got for free and can sell it.
>>
>>54488051
You've had months upon months to simply remove the updates that put gwx.exe on your computer.
Yes, it's more aggressive now than it was at the start. But that doesn't change the fact that this only happened because you did nothing to stop it.

You're the idiot that just let every update through.
You're the idiot that didn't look up how to remove it within the several months you've had to do so.
You brought this upon yourself.

not for another year, at least... they put off ending support for winXP several times and will likely do so again

that said, 10 is great and I have no plans to go back
>>
>>54488217
he was saying don't ask

no W10 isn't bloated and buggy
no there is no reason to upgrade either

W10 is the single worst piece of shit software product I've came upon ever in my life.
Microsoft simply tells to your face that, to them, their meme telemetry shit is more important than your actual needs as a user of your own system. They pushed information retrieval (aka spying) to be the first priority of the OS; hence it doesn't matter what you are currently doing, they will go ahead with their obscure updates and not care. Additionally, I've experienced a significant performance drop in every machine I've tried this piece of shit, could be related to it constantly sending whatever information to microsoft, or simply due to the poor implementation of their interface.
I admit that GAHNOO + Loonix is quite uncomfortable most of the time for an inexperienced user, but Windows 10 has managed to go even beyond that. I switched permanently to linux and will never look back.

How is something still supported considered "outdated"?

Also you can disable telemetry in Windows 7 and 8.1 :O

>>

>i'll update for win11

Windows 10 is the last operating system microsoft will put out. Now that they are at an even number that matches apple they will just release revisions every year. Get ready for Windows 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 just like OSX.
>>
>>54488550
You can choose not to install the telemetry. You would know this if you weren't a mouth breather like OP.

>>
>>54488620

They've been pushing updates marked as important with no description. Only for users to find out about what it actually does 1 month later. Take GWX as an example.
>>
>>54488615
you're shitting me right? at some point they'll have to release a new version without, right

Ya:
Disable the following updates, KB3068708, KB3022345,KB2952664, KB2990214, KB3035583, KB971033, KB3021917

Disable "Remote Registry" under Services.

Disable all "Microsoft-Windows-DiskDiagnosticDataCollector" under scheduled tasks

Download GWX Control Panel and run all the fixes.

Boom, you're welcome.
