Engineers do cutting edge robotics research with Ubuntu as their OS of choice.
Autists still can't get X working on their archleenox.
>>54482590
Your point? Everyone knows Ubuntu is easier than arch
>>54482590
>not using gentoo
say goodbye to 1% performance
Getting X windows to work is soooo hard guys I mean you have to install it and type startx ugh I wish canonical could just do it for me
>>54482590
Doesn't necessarily mean all their computers and development environments are ubuntu.
>>54482590
Ubuntu is bitch level.
I was installing ubuntu on my ps3 when i was a kid.

You have to be 18 to post here
>>54482663
They probably are. ROS ( http://www.ros.org/ ) and Gazebo ( http://gazebosim.org/ ) are standard tools in robotics research, and they are commonly used with ubuntu.
>>54482664
My point is that OS is just infrastructure, it should just work. Ubuntu is well suited for this. Not to mention many >$1B valued companies use ubuntu for their infrastructure as well..
It's the algorithms and application software that matters anyway. Engineers focus on creating things that have never been done before (e.g. new robotics control algos). Autists focus on ricing their "arch" "rig".

because they're not paying IT enough to set up proper systems for them. Just because someone is smart in one field doesn't make them good in everything

>>54482590
You're forgetting the fact that /g/ shits on arch all the time. You're preaching to the choir here.

not using a display manager is the single most autistic things archfags like to do

yet everyone is using it: https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/g/thread/54474492
It's just a small set of trolls

You're not taking into the account that people who reply to those types of threads are the same people who install arch. I use Debian for personal use and Fedora at work.
>>54482931
Ubuntu IS the proper system. Many big companies use ubuntu server because of its stability and support.

> You're not taking into the account that people who reply to those types of threads are the same people who install arch
that assertion is entirely unfounded especially considering that there were also people with other distros posting, but I don't want to argue with you really. Have a nice day
i agree. i still use corel paint to do serious technical work and microsoft bob as my daily driver OS ( workhorse )
i think what really needs to be said and reverberated here is that the technical merit skill implicit to bodies in motion coaxing out contrived mental-genes on the daily undergo usage cases the employ the most ludicrous programs that allocate resources to their opengl calls rendering """"" engineering """"" binary executables

That's a funny way to write CentOS.
