Will we ever see a high-end or even flagship GPU released in a single slot form factor again?
How about a short AND single slot form factor?
I would really love for very small form factor cases such as these to be viable in housing high end systems.

and if you truly want a flat gpu, there allready exists the MXM gpus like the 980 mxm with 8GB ram. its truly a masterpiece of a gpu

The market accepted dual slot and it leaves room for both the ports and some air exhaust out the back. Power reqs went up immensely from 2000 to present.
I doubt that high end GPUs are going to go back to single slot within any reasonable timespan.

So long as "high end" means 200W+, no, you won't see single slot GPUs. Really, with how little room there is for cooling in a single slot, anything over even 75W is pushing it.
