Is a master's degree in CS worth it?
No, you'll need a PhD in CS to get a real job.

only if you are truly, deeply interested in computer science.
The only reason to get anything beyond a BS is if you want to go into academia.
Maybe, you'll probably get a job quicker than somebody without the degree
OP here: master's degree at my uni is only one year, but now that I'm in it all I can say is that the courses are horrible. I've already got a job, so I'm currently only looking at the degree as a piece of paper that might or might not be worth the effort.

This. You will learn the real SCIENCE part of computer science.
BCS is engineering, geared toward getting a programming job.
MCS is science and geared toward academia.
Yes it is worth it. I thought I was OK in programming and computers in general but I now realize my entire knowledge base is skindeep. I have no real understanding and I have much to learn. Not only that, I am completely capable of learning it.
