i wanna change my OS for something exotic, is pic related any good ?
Not if you want to do shit with ur pc
>unix derivative
>exotic

why ?
As a desktop operating system? Fuck no. It hasn't been relevant in the server realm for a while, either. Some legacy shit, damned if you need to work with it. All the same, spin it up on a VM and poke around, learning about things is always good.
Just get TempleOS
Several years ago I installed OpenSolaris on my laptop.
Upon boot, the speaker came on full volume buzzing. Wasn't even at the login screen or command line. Pulled the battery and through away the cd.

It's not really a good idea for desktop use unless you're running a SPARC workstation.
Fine for server use though.
>>54466326
>derivative.
hah no.
>>54466851
>Solaris isn't Unix based
kys
>>54466941
Why would you call it a derivative?
Solaris was quite literally created by AT&T and Sun.
Use Oberon
"I want to be a hipster and use something shitty"
>>54467392
why is it shitty?
because it doesn't run facebook-tier shit?
>>54468442
It's shit on x86. You might as well call it GNU/Solaris now since most of the Desktop is really just GNU ports.
Desktop is GNOME (dropping CDE)
Xserver is straight from xorg (they dropped sunX drivers)
Default shell is now bash. (admin is still ksh)
There really isn't any reason to run it on the desktop.

You can run VMs if you want to look like a hipster, I use a 98 SE to look cool

>because it doesn't run facebook-tier shit?
You mean a web browser?
My hipster OS setup would be:
OpenBSD
CDE (easy to follow guide on the sourceforge site for OpenBSD)
and AT&T's open sourced ksh93 ast-ksh.
