Is this thing really magic? It really feels like you're pressing down.
Why isn't this feature on smartphones yet?

Stopped reading there lmao, put that in the subject

I want spring break to end.

I was considering getting one, but then they went full Applefaggots.

Do you believe everything /g/ tells you?
>>
>>54453805
That's the mouse not the touchpad you nerd.
>>
I debated getting one of these so I wouldn't have to bother charging batteries, is force touch annoying? I don't care that it's easier to click towards the top of the trackpad now I just want the click to not feel like ass.
>>
>>54453490
Why do I need this when I have a mouse?
Is Apple removing the click function on the mouse so they can sell you another useless gadget?
>>
>>54456812
Because you prefer it. If you don't then keep using your mouse.
>>
I use one because gestures and saved desk space

annoying though: it only works with newer macs! I even got a bluetooth adapter and it was slow and shitty and gestures didn't work unless I tethered via USB cable.

fine since it's on a desk all day, but slightly fucking annoying.
>>
>>54456812
I like trackpads because I have RSI and trackpads require no force to click. But every desktop one I find is lacking somehow, and even most laptops ones are garbage. I'm going to figure out how to wire up the trackpad from my old laptop to get the features/experience I want
>>
>>54458144

perhaps try buying a bluetooth adapter worth more than $4
>>
I wish the magic trackpad worked well on windows or there was some software that wasn't shitty like fucking extramagic.

I have the old one, but I don't use OSX anymore. Gestures were nice but in the end it's just "cool", not necessary.

>3x the price
I'm kind of tempted, but fuck that markup.
>>
>>54458838
Same. It's a pretty intentional move by apple to gimp the drivers. I got the first magic trackpad and it's just fucked on Windows.
>>
>>54456666
force touch is game changing imo. very hard to can't go back to a clicky touchpad. i'm not talking about the deep press thing since that isn't really usefull in many places but being able to easily drag your finger and clicking anywhere with the same pressure is really cool. i've disabled tap to click which i can't leave without on any touchpad
>>
>>54458882
Logitech's Trackpad doesn't have haptic feedback like the Magic Trackpad does.

>>54461456
That isn't worth 100 more burgers.

holy shit apples does it, again!

It is on the 6S
>>
>>54461484
>>54461536

It doesnt just vibrate, the taptic engine is miles ahead of any regular vibration motor. And yes that makes it all the difference between feeling an actual click or not, but keep on memeing
>>
>>54461536
It feels like you're pushing into the trackpad. Then again you seem to be a know nothing who writes off anything Apple.
>>
>>54461611
Does it work when you're typing?
>>
>>54461484
Of course not, but neither is 5k. Still doesn't change how nice it is.
>>
>>54461677

Yes, you deep press and then you can move the cursor around for editing text. Its really neat

Not him, but it feels like you're pushing into the screen. Even if you realize it's just an illusion the effect doesn't go away.
>>
>Is this thing really magic?
No.
>It really feels like you're pressing down.
Yep, the haptic feedback feels really good.
>Why isn't this feature on smartphones yet?
6s has 3D touch which is the same idea
>>
Nokia had this since the X3
Never felt haptic feedback of that quality since, it really feels like you're pressing a button.
