Are floppy drives more secure than Flash drives? I do have external floppy drive already and I just want to save my word documents.
>>
What do you mean by secure?
>>
No more secure but infinitely more likely to get fucked up by the environment, magnets are death.
>>
>>54435274
Less prone to viruses due to hardware specifications
>>
>>54435294
Also r/w speeds are going to be absolute garbage compared to any USB device
>>
>>54435252
Security through obscurity I suppose.
>>
>>54435334
What the fuck does that even mean? How did you even find this place?
>>

Not only that, they have the reliability of wet tissue paper. I remember getting a box of 20 floppies and 2-3 of them would inevitably be dead, right out of the fucking box. A few more would die after a few months. They make USB flash drives look like immortal gods that never fucking die.

Think there's something in the usb spec that lets say a thumb drive run code when the drive is plugged in.
>>
>>54435543
Autorun on USB hasn't been enabled by default for years. What else are you concerned with, a device that exploits a zero day in specific USB controllers?
>>
>>54435585
Not op.

Maybe not relevant since he owns the floppies or drives, but there's a few issues listed here:
usb seurity issues: https://srlabs.de/badusb/

SD cards are better.
>>

Using floppies will buy you 5 minutes when the feds need to dig out their USB floppy drive. If by secure you mean more time to come up with an alibi to why you have passwords to kiddie porn sites in those word documents of yours, then yes, they are more secure.
>>
>>54435406
autorun.inf
>>54435543
It's not USB spec. Is retarded programming on winderp.
>>54435585
Check back your windows. It is enabled by default since windows 95.
After so many shit in windows 98, it hasn't been disabled in me, then 2000, then XP, then Vista, then 7, then 8, then 8.1 and we're in windows 10 and the OS STILL sniffs around the drive I just plugged in finding code to execute or making fucking hidden + systems folders that I cannot readily delete (System Volume Information).

This is insecure and beyond retarded.

You can flash modified firmware to the usb controller chip, they're not very secure at all...

These guys did it using phison chips:

If autorun is your worry, then a floppy is still just as bad.

Windows will run autorun.info from a floppy too...
>It just won't do it until it tries to access tothe floppy disk, upon which it will notice the autorun.info file and follow it.

OP, you're just r-tarded.
>>
>>54435543
You should have said that in your initial post so people would know what the fuck you were talking about.

Anyway, to answer your question: If it's your own flash drive and you know it's history, I'd say there's little to worry about.

Turn on quote threading. OP is someone else.
