Sometimes I get annoyed by chromiums limited codec support for instance.

Development on Vivaldi has moved a lot faster than you're thinking. I haven't had any issues using the snapshots for a very long time. In fact the only issues I have are when they change behaviors or add a feature. So not bugs, just design issues, which they tend to rectify with the next snapshot.

I'm waiting for a browser that can be as customizable as FF, but therein lies the problem: if you make it customizable you can get rid of not only website elements like ad frames that contain ads but also browser elements the developers may not want you to remove, like Pocket.

I've unfortunately have stopped using freedomfox recently. It kept crashing on me and would have major memory leaks and consuming several gigs because I opened a few google maps tabs. I mean I normally do have a lot of stuff open, but chrome seems to handle it much better.
